Serious question: How old are you? LSU and Tulane used to be a heated, sometimes violent, rivalry between two schools who absolutely hated each other. Tulane's utter irrelevance has completely watered down this rivalry until it no longer exists, but used to be one of the oldest in the South.
ULL think they've reached the big time simply because of their phony name change and the fact they refer to themselves as "Louisiana." They're not even the flagship university of the UL system.
Southeastern is an FCS school that went w/o football for several decades. Why would LSU consider them a rival?

I lived in Lafayette most of my life. And I call bs. Ive wore my lsu stuff around town, restaurants, malls, church, UL games, stores and have never once been told anything. And I’m assuming 20 years of doing it, is a lot longer. Than you’ve experienced the torcher of being an Lsu fan in Lafayette.

I’ve actually known two in my life. One was much older and on the UL faculty and passed away long ago.
The other is my age and an extremely successful and intelligent person from a family with deep roots in Lafayette. The rest of his family doesn’t feel this way at all though so I really don’t know why he does
But it is extremely extremely rare in my experience.
UL fans love making trips to Tiger Stadium.

I will say this, I think LSU fans have an inferiority complex because Lafayette is a much different city and lifestyle than Baton Rouge is outside of campus. Without even saying which is better, that’s a matter of opinion for everyone, there is just definitely a difference.
UL fans absolutely take pride in being from Lafayette and I didn’t really get that same sense of community or culture from Baton Rouge, generally speaking, in my many years as an LSU student, graduate and undergraduate.
So while LSU and UL are not comparable in many ways as universities and athletic programs, there is definitely something to be said about the pros of living in Lafayette vs BR, and I think that’s where the insecurity and aggression comes from on the LSU side from a segment of the fanbase.

Dude... I have many friends that graduated from UL and they are all LSU fans...
Look at all the UL fans/alums in this thread saying that there is no hatred toward LSU.
It seems to me that LSU fans have this irrational and delusional hatred toward UL that comes from nowhere...
It is the strangest shite I have ever seen.
