How many coaches has LSU actually INTERVIEWED?

This is what all of the O supporters are failing to understand.

Again, I'm not even anti-O. If the admin does their due diligence and decides for whatever reason that O is the best candidate, then so be it.

But to completely fail to conduct a true search for the best and brightest football minds for a position of this magnitude would simply be a breach of their duty.

Say O is hired, Alleva would absolutely take the podium and say something along the lines of, "After reaching out to many different coaches, we have decided Ed Orgeron is the best man to take charge of this program", because he would get destroyed if he said, "Well the other guy that we really liked said no, so we are going with O"

But there is an absolute difference between just "reaching out" or speaking through agents about vague terms that it would take for a certain coach to consider changing jobs and a coach actually coming in and sitting down to pitch themselves as the next coach of LSU.

In a job search like this, candidates should be not only allowed, but expected, to come in with a plan, a chance to pitch their vision for where the program could go and where it should be. That is why these things can't be done in September or October when coaches have responsibilities to their current teams and employers.

It isn't until this time of year when coaches may allow themselves to peek in a different direction if the season is pretty much decided.

So, no, Alleva hasn't conducted a thorough search, as he will claim that he has when the new coach is introduced.


Why can't people understand that you have to actually INTERVIEW a few candidates so that you can adequately judge them against each other?

I don't have a "favorite", I only have a feeling for who I hope the decision makers are giving a fair chance.

Even someone I have my doubts about like Fedora or Mullen would very possibly make Alleva stop and say "Wow this guy is a really smart coach and seems like he could fit in well here."

But if they are never even given a chance to make their pitch, how can we as fans just accept either Jimbo or O knowing that such a limited process gave us these two options for a position that should lead to a frenzy of coaches lining up to make their case.


I will just never understand how this position has been narrowed down to two options without any real interview process.
