How is O with Aranda and Kiffen different from Miles with Fisher and Pelini?

Miles wasn't a great coach when he came to LSU and was surrounded by two extremely talented coordinators who both went on to head coaching jobs.

So why are we freaking out about O when we are in a position to have two of the best coordinators in the nation?

Also, I truly believe our next head coach is Aranda and he will get the job before LSU loses him to another school (unless Orgeron is just flat out killing it).

Because les constantly got in the way of his coordinators. It's painfully obvious it didn't matter who was running the offense under les, it wasn't changing. O, by all accounts, let's his guys coach.

You did not have the stigma of winning less than 30% of your games with Miles.

Miles had done a lot more than O had...a LOT more

2 biggest differences are (1) successful head coach instead of a disaster and (3) coordinator experience

he's basically selling LSU on O having no real scheme/philosophy and him recruiting, promising never to leave, and then letting essentially 2 other head coaches run the actual football team. long-term that's going to be interesting when he has to replace his OC and DC

How quick can he replace them if they leave? That's what Les struggled with. Don't forget if we do actually make a couple runs O will be demanding higher pay (as he should), but that will lead us back to going cheaper for coordinators.

We'll just have to see how it plays out, but their aren't too many case studies out there to compare this type of restructuring to.

Which to me shouldn't ever be a problem if you're willing to pay your coordinators up to $2 million a year

hell what happens when we're giving "half HC money" to a coordinator who fails?

we gonna start paying $5-6M buyouts for coordinators?

That moment when Les looked pissed on the headset after the TD pass in 2005 in OT against Bama should have been a greater sign of things to come for me than it should have been.

constant turnover of scheme + the risk of not being able to fire a bad hire "shouldn't ever be a problem"?

remember we have coach O who has to make these decisions. not exactly a critical thinker

sure, his best buddy lane kiffin has a foot out the door and we have aranda in place this year. what happens when he has to really scour the market and the options are so easy? you really trust Ed fricking Orgeron to hit a homerun every time (because that's what is required)?

The difference is Miles' record. Hate Miles or love him, O has big shoes to fill.

That's the scary part, you have to hit on all three coaches now or you get stuck with some hefty buyouts and potentially cripple the program. When I say "hit" they actually have to be able to work together also and come up with a cohesive game plan for the entire team.

I can't wait until our first Cam or BDP/Mallory.

The proposition of repeatedly hiring two great coordinators plus retaining O (assuming this plans works at the outset) is more financially irresponsible than just paying a superstar HC.

O will let his coaches coach and won't waste NFL roster dynasty type talent by losing 2-3 games a year during the pinnacle of LSU football like happened in 2005,2006,2007(we got lucky),2008

We already witnessed an example of O underutilizing talent this year.

it would have been more responsible to say hire Jimbo to a 10 year deal worth what 80-100 million?

I'm not sure that we will ever really know what akimbo wanted. Second just judging a deal based on salary and terms isn't a good way to do things. Lastly that potentially may be smarter if we aren't having to bite our nails every year on bagging another superstar coordinator for big cash on one side of the ball or the other.
