How is it possible that Aranda is not our #1 choice?

Because not enough time has elapsed for us to ascertain whether or not he has become a top-notch recruiter. Jury's still out.

If DA had the same amount of HC experience as Riley then we could compare but his sample size is too small and no matter how much I like the guy and respect what he has done in his time as HC it's still a gamble with such a small sample size

It’s not 1 game. It’s 2 years of consistent improvement with limited talent and his D just smoked Riley’s O just like he did when he was with us in 2019

We have some great candidates, the more this season progresses, the less I worry about the hire.

because everyone wants the white whale that don't exist

Aranda may not be a white whale but he is a great white shark and really good football coach and smarter than most everyone else

Not a big enough sample size for Woody.

We have some stupid fans. Aranda was 2-7 last season. That’s fricking horrible. He took over a Baylor team that had just played for the conference title and made a NY6 bowl. He lost 2 games this season, one to bad a TCU team with no coach. I’m not saying Aranda isn’t a good coach but to act like he’s the obvious first choice for the job is beyond absurd.

didn’t smoke a shitty TCU team that just fired their coach last week tho

Also you say limited talent yet it’s the same talent that won 11 games with Matt Rhule 2 years ago. Stop with this narrative that Aranda inherited some god awful program

Who would you trust more to beat Alabama? Riley or Aranda?

Sample size may be small, but Aranda is VERY smart. Floor would be very high with him.

As a football fan, I watch Baylor play and they look well coached. Disciplined, smart. If Dave brought Grimes as OC, hired Herman, whatever, he is smart and will have a competent staff and will treat people respectfully.

Because they do t have LSU talent, they can lose a game like TCU. Losing at Okie State by less than a touchdown is not a bad loss.

Really bad take considering Covid season with no spring or summer workouts to get his system put in.

Woodward has his own list. There were only a few names if that. He hired his 1st choice. It wasn’t Woodward.

He currently has the same record as Orgeron did in his interim year. Anyone who would hire a guy, as good as I think he is, to be the head coach of a program like LSU based on 1 good season is fricking insane. Way too much goes into winning and maintaining to take a chance like that, especially right now.

We need a proven winner very desperately, 1 more hire that doesn’t work out and we’re Tennessee or Florida State
