How do we know this isn’t like 2022?

In 2022 when the rumors were flying that Kiffin was leaving for Auburn, he told his players he was staying but asked that the public announcement not be made until after the Egg Bowl. How do we know this didn’t happen again?

Because we're LSU, and not Auburn.

That's true, but why put your fans, admin and boosters through all of that...again?

I agree with this, and I get we are LSU and not Auburn which makes a huge difference, but he does have history of doing this. Makes me wonder.

Bc of his daughter Landry
Do you know why he stayed at Ole Miss then? Bc she was a student at Ole Miss
Do you know why he’s going to LSU now?

I must say that is extremely possible but unlike the last two coaching searches, well even last three when miles was hired. There are a lot of people that can be successful at lsu that are available.
2004 it was only miles and jack del rio. If saban would of left in November maybe get spurrier
2016, tom herman was the only get, why next choice was O. I wouldnt change that. 2019 is worth ever bit of suffering. Wish we were just now firing O and not kelly.
2022, riley is all i remember, i do remember kiffin wanted in but with just dealing with O, woodward didnt even answer the phone
2025: kiffin, dilly, sumeral, key, drink(I know) , north texas guy etc

It almost happened had it not been for Kiffin’s daughter, Landry. Chris Low reports, “Kiffin was leaning toward taking the Auburn job” back in 2022 had it not been a question his daughter asked him. “You left me one time for another job when you went to Alabama, and now I’m here with you and you’re going to do it again?” she asked, per the report.
Kiffin’s oldest daughter left Los Angeles prior to her senior year of high school to be with her dad. Now at Ole Miss, she didn’t want him to leave. In addition, Low reports Landry Kiffin and her friends made a musical slideshow of them at Ole Miss to persuade him to stay.
Any reports of a musical slideshow to persuade him to go to LSU?

There’s a major factor you may be forgetting here. Auburn happens to share a state with Alabama.
Considering Kiffin’s past connections with Alabama, and the potential that he may want to try to coach there someday if possible, the Auburn job specifically is a particularly bad fit for him. Taking that job and having any success would basically close the door on him ever having a shot to coach at Bama. Taking this job wouldn’t.

2016 we always knew Texas was his preference, it was just a matter of them ponying up
2022- it was always Kelly and had been agreed upon before the season ended. Armstrong reps both and used LSU to leverage every penny out of USC
Could ole miss come in at the 11th hour with a stupid crazy offer ? Maybe but I don’t think so, they seen over it.

I would go after Lane too, but the way he screwed Tennessee scares me. If it all falls through, I’m gonna feel as stupid as the tender woman. Watching all the coverage on TV, it seems like while the majority of LSU fans see Lane announcing next Saturday for LSU, most people outside of Louisiana think Lane might go in any number of ways.
I saved you," cried that woman
"And you've bit me even, why?
You know your bite is poisonous and now I'm going to die"
"Oh shut up, silly woman," said the reptile with a grin
"You knew damn well I was a snake before you took me in
"Take me in, oh tender woman
Take me in, for heaven's sake
Take me in oh tender woman," sighed the snake

This is the kind of insight I was looking for. Thanks.

Yeah I was thinking he might be upset that the offer had become public, but then I thought what if his team leaked it? Idk.

There was also a question as to whether the Texas job would be open up until their last game. That loss sealed the deal.

2022 repeating itself is unlikely. The money being thrown at him isn’t even necessary. If the son and daughter want to stay in Oxford, he stays. If they want to go to Baton Rouge, he goes. How much has Landry sold Knox on how great Baton Rouge is? (Love is blind right?) How tight is Knox with his Oxford teammates? (playing in the state semis next weekend).
The wife and daughter flying to Gainesville and Baton Rouge was a charade so that Lane can say it was a “family decision.” I think the LSU headphones snap is more telling than any other scoop I’ve read this week. I think the kids are excited about LSU.
