I scrolled through all the teams to picture the potential candidates out there that are maybe realistic and proven in major conferences. Eliminating guys like Frank Beamer or Chip Kelly who have no reason to leave I came up with one other possibility that I haven't really heard.

Gary Pinkel -- Missouri

Pretty successful with limited resources. Seems like he does things very professionally and is a pretty stable guy. I thought his name had been mentioned in the last couple of years for some jobs and obviously LSU is a huge step up him.

What do you think?

He's only gone 77-49 at Mizzou since he's been there... that's pretty much a modern day miracle.

Actually, Iowa's head coach is very competent if we're fishing in the Big 10.

Totally cool with Pinkel. Good experience, has some quality wins and with a program not nearly of the cache of LSU. Good pick, if they can get him.

I suggested him earlier as a top 10 coach and got laughed at by some on here.

Only issue I could see is he is already making $2.55M/year.

this would be the uninspired hire i would expect. hes just sooo... average. nothing special about him at all. no hardware. decent record in an awful division. i honestly think hes just not good enough to be our head coach. but i will say- he reminds me of what les miles was back in 04- he fits the mold and this has me shitty bricks of fear

we can do worlds better than this guy.

I'd be very impressed with a Ferentz hire. He's done an excellent job at a shitty school location.

not saying that recruiting is everything, but just looked up wisonsin/missouri and they have definitley overachieved.

As did mississippi state.

He's put out some really good QBs over the years, too.

Gabbert, Daniel, and Smith.

Hold onto Chavis and bring the OC he has now, and we would be just fine.
