Certainly you can make points about their record being a little inflated because of their division. He also hasn't put a "big skin" on the wall, but he is coaching at Missouri! They have had been in the national hunt with some seasons where they went undefeated pretty late in the season. I think that's pretty impressive considering the talent and resources there.

He has an offensive background (works with maybe keeping chief and some continuity on that side), but he has let his offensive coordinators do their thing without getting in the way. They are pretty wide open on offense and with the skill talent available here I think it could be a good match.

Biggest concern to me is to make sure he keeps Frank and has some guys who are going to get after it in recruiting. He doesn't strike me as a motivated recruiter himself, but that's ok as long as the staff is getting it done. Overall, I just think they seem well coached and disciplined. They have been consistently good for a period of time, and I wouldn't consider them a gimmicky hire. If we get a good game manager that runs a solid program, recruits, and is a good fundamental teacher -- I think it would work very well for the talent that we have here.

Pinkel would be intriging.
Ferentz would be a hit to me.That guy is one of the most respected coaches in the country by other coaches.(NFL and college)Have you seen what he's done at Iowa with just above average talent? He could win big here.I'd be very curious to see what he could do here.

Who is the OC and how long has he been there? They have done a pretty good job with their qbs. He would just need to hire a solid DC.

Also for the record I wouldnt mind LSU trying to do whatever it takes to keep miles. Then if they cant get one of those not realistic candidates then yes i would be happy with Pinkel.

Pinkel would be a good steward to carry the program forward for awhile, but it would lose steam after a couple of years. Plus, he is well into his fifties and the last interview I heard from him while in KC indicated that he wanted to finish at Mizzou.
