Really impressed by defensive discipline and performance by the Cougars today vs Auburn. Love how the DB’s hustle off the field on personnel changes…looks like a standard the coaching staff has created! We could do worse than this guy. I know he signed an extension ??

It’s a million a year

So unless he has a huge buyout it wouldn’t be insane to hire him away for what we’d probably be willing to pay him

Agree they have a good defense, but Finley can make a defense look better than they are.

Watched the entire game and his defense definitely played sound and solid!

Been asking for this guy for a month now. Could be the next Dan lanning or Marcus freeman. Would be a home run hire!

Let’s not underestimate FInley and play calling. Both were bad.

Don't know much about him but the guys on sirius ESPNU are very high on him. Not a big name but still a lot more resume than Jones.

Once Golding leaves Bama - Belk will probably be Saban's next DC

Houston was solid this year defensively. But I wouldn't base any decisions on a performance in a bowl game where the incentive to perform for one team may leave a lot to be desired.

Belk has been a strong candidate long before this bowl game. Doesn’t seem like he’s going to be at LSU but that would be a great hire if we did.

While this is true...

UH's D looked liked they knew what was coming (prep) AND were ready for it (playcalls, communication) AND, for the most part, did their job (execution).

It's the old chicken and egg conundrum- did the play calls look bad because they were ready for it or was it too easy because they were bad play calls? I say leave that out of it and I'm still impressed with the calls, communication, and execution.

I have a hard time believing he'll bolt for us, but stranger things have happened. I think it would be a very good hire if they can pull it off. I don't see a whole lot more out there and there's more questions answered about Belk than House (at a "fan's cursory glance").

I'll be good with whoever CBK goes with.
Golding for me because he's a bad arse recruiter and has ties to LA.
But it wouldn't surprise me if House talk is all smoke and the guy we were waiting on for DC that was still coaching turns out to be Belk or Derek Mason.

Belk is a rising star.

He got a mil to stay at houston. That's nice money for houston.

Houston may have an awesome DC but all those wide open receivers Finley couldn’t hit sure made that guys job much easier. If Auburn had a quarterback that could complete a forward pass they would have run Houston out of that stadium.

I like the House hire but damn would have been nice to get Belk on board in some capacity too.

I think he’s a star on the rise for sure.
