Not quite.
Wallace Wade also left Bama for Duke, but I doubt there are many alive that remember that.
Where did Stallings go after leaving Alabama?
I'll hang up and listen.

They took the departure of the great Dennis Francione (sp? dont care) so well, I would imagine they would take the departure of Saban like the mature, well reasoned, adults they all are.

I never claimed that he went anywhere else, but 'running him off' is a bit too simplistic for what happened.

When it comes to Saban I can believe anything.
I will hope he decides to leave Texas after a year and goes to Auburn after Malzahn takes the Florida Job.

Why do you think we have statues at the stadium of ALL our NC coaches. We love Stallings still and he left but won a NC while he was there.
Bryant was there forever. Stallings didn't coach anywhere after he left.
Saban leaving for Texas would be nothing like these two instances; especially with him going to a program that could prevent Alabama from winning more NCs in the near future. Some would he appreciative, but most would loathe him for a looong time for leaving Alabama.
Saban landed in your laps in 2007 because it was the only high-profile job open at the time. He wanted to come back to LSU, but we were 10-2 and playing in the Sugar Bowl that day.

..or Tennessee when they run Kelly out of town.

The real question how would lsu fans react. They seemed more concerned over it than UA fans.
As a UA fan I can not say I would be happy but it is not like he is leaving the program in bad shape. I just hope the same thing does not happen like it did at LSU though. That once his last recruits were gone the decline started. I mean LSU seems to keep trending downward as Les is the HC.

Saban wanted to go back to LSU.

Kelly? or do you mean Butch Jones.

I'm not a Bama fan, but I think they'd take it better than LSU fans took Saban's return to CFB and with good reason. Saban wouldn't be leaving for a divisional opponent.
I remember when Saban first left to the Dolphins, most fans weren't upset and were in many ways happy for him and thankful for him rebuilding LSU to a championship level. It honestly wasn't until he came back to Bama that a bunch of LSU fans got really upset about it. Even then, it wasn't until his successful run at Bama that people were really that upset, especially with how 2011 shaped up.
In the end, if he leaves, I honestly think most Bama fans would be disappointed, but be thankful for what he did. You'll have the few that think Bama built itself, Bama is the highest level in college anyone could want, and be upset that Saban felt Texas was a better place, but most would just deal with it, much like LSU fans in 2004 did.

Thank him and wish him well. He could piss all over us the second he left and I wouldn't care, nor should anyone. Every fan and affiliate of the University should support him no matter what he does/says if he were to leave.

..because he called some LSU BOS members to gauge the possibility of coming back?
When they said it couldn't be done, he went looking elsewhere.
Hell, you guys are lucky Rich Rod changed his mind.

....seriously, it was an outreach pre-Bama. BOS was contacted by Jimmy.
Laugh all you want. Its a fact.

This is what will make them apoplectic. A large portion of the Bamber's fan base entire self worth is based on the success of the college football team they root for. If the almighty Saban were to commit the great blasphemy of deciding another university might be better for him, they will lose their shite.
