his "old school is the only way" philosophy is gonna be a disaster with kids, but man are we going to get some good quotes.

That would be an epic fail

This would be an unmitigated disaster

Herm vs Rich Rod for desert supremacy

He was an alright NFL coach. CFB is a whole different beast and I just love imagining Herm sitting in a kids parents house trying to recruit him
.

Truly indicative where the college game has gone.
It has become a feel good, name game like a Hollywood movie...we should get this coach because he could bring in this age group or this one because he will attract this demographic.
A “name”is just a name until coaching comes into play...then you’ve already gilded the lily.

He does well at under armour AA game. I always loved the scheme he would cook up.

Good point and don't think he hasn't been picking the brains of all those 4* and 5* recruits to learn why they chose the schools they did. Herm Edwards comes across as a pretty savy dude to me and I wouldn't be surprised if he recruited pretty well.

I didn't think the Rooney Rule applied to college athletics.

This would be beyond amazing

I used to hear Herm on the radio with Mike and Mike and he came across as very likeable. I bet he would do well with in home visits. Parents would like him.

Dear, God...no.

What’s lost in all of this is the fact that their AD is mandating that the new coach keep both the OC and DC. The quickest way to get a coach to say “no thanks” to your job is to dictate what coaches from the previous staff he keep.
This will not end well for ASU.

Totally agree he'd be great in home but he doesn't seem like the type to be kissing a kid's arse through all the other parts of recruiting. Kid calls him saying he's thinking of decommitting, Herm says some "be a man, put ya name on it" type stuff.

What happened to Sumlin?
If the post above you is true, then sumlin probably said no thanks.
