Saban isn't working for Landry. Saban is a control freak and is owner/GM of his program.

FWIW, the Ole Miss 247 guy just posted that LSU is pursuing Lane and is their number 1 target. (Also noted Drink and Brohm as targets)
Their board is currently melting. They know we can take him if we want to. Timing is weird, but we can probably make it work with Austin Thomas.
Also makes you think when Knox and Landry (I know, I get it) have been coming to BR so much… just interesting.

$29mil seems a little low to me though, unless he's worried about the mitigation clause or is planning to coach again.

And by that time, less coaching candidates will be available because all these other schools with openings will have scooped up a lot of them. This absolutely sounds like something LSU would let happen, stood up at the altar.

Lane already has an extension on his desk he hasn’t signed that would make him the highest paid coach in the country.
I don’t believe it’s about money with Lane. It’s about being content in Oxford or the challenge and possibilities in Baton Rouge.
If Lane is going to Lane he’ll choose LSU. Maybe he’s changed and is okay sticking it out in Oxford with low expectations. We’ll see.
