Hope Kiffin isn’t trolling us. Showing just enough interest to keep us locked in as long as possible potentially hurting our recruiting and portal prospects only to stay at Ole Miss and leave us at the alter with no good options would be 4D chess.

It’s not even that complex, I would think MOST coaches would do that to an annual opponent with a high ceiling.

Here is where Kiffin holds all the cards. He’s a master troll. He knows it. We know it. Would he drag us on into the January time period only to stay put? If he has 0% interest in leaving, he knows that. Not saying that’s the case I’m saying if in his jest he knows he’s not leaving, I would be surprised if he trolled us into January to force us to settle and damage our coaching search and overall perception.

And it’s why I’ve never cared for him outside of his offensive coaching. Hes a master troll and who says he wouldn’t do it to us thinking back to being passed over 4 years ago.

Cringe that Freeman is even a remote consideration.

Where have we heard this before?

I like Freeman way more than detestable Kelly, but this premise is what brought us to this mess.

to everyone that asks,"...who is paying for this? no way we can afford paying BK and pay a new top coach." Well, here you go. And he is not the only one paying up. I would rather all the non-millionaires (like me) just say Thank You!

also, to everyone saying that the gov is ruining the search....the gov runs nothing. he is just a stereotypical politician. he loves a camera. the money guys make the decisions.

All the people who say LSU has no money have a pretty low IQ. Ive said this over and over, and have gotten chastised for saying it before. We have ALOT of big donors, no we do not have Texas oil money but we are not hurting in any way. LSU can spend to get who they want, its a matter of if said person will take it

Philly, your credibility is slipping....

quote:

I am told the expectation is this gets settled before it ever reaches a courtroom

It's already in a courtroom. Suit has been filed.

quote:

at around 29-35 million

Kelly's team already turned down $30M and now they have additional leverage.

quote:

there is not much worry in the building this effects the interest or the ability to make a big hire as their next HC.

That speaks volumes to the tone deafness of those "in the building" which is very concerning.

quote:

I was told again today LSU was given a number on Nick Saban from Sexton. They didn’t say no.

So we've gone from LSU relaying an offer to Saban which (according to you) he didn't immediately reject, to now Sexton has made an offer to LSU and LSU has not yet rejected it? I think you may be getting your story twisted. There's absolutely nothing preventing LSU and Saban reaching a deal right now and announcing it. It's been two weeks. The parties know by now whether there is a deal that makes sense to both sides.

quote:

The latest I heard (couple days ago) reads as follows
“LSU and Lane both want this to happen but neither want to rush it”

It makes sense why Lane doesn't want to "rush it." It makes zero sense from the LSU side. There needs to be a sense of urgency. If not, LSU is going to be left standing at the alter AND missing the portal window. Hopefully those on the search committee understand this, but I have no confidence that they do.

quote:

There are 2 names I can definitively tell you will not be LSUs next head coach and that is Jon Sumrall and Eli Drinkwitz. I have it on good word LSU is not extending an offer to either.

And if Kiffin leaves us high and dry at the 11th hour? It's far too early in the process to completely rule out two qualified candidates.

This is the most logical viewpoint. This board is infatuated with some sort of Saban lust like a scorned lover. its truly sad

Kiffin feels like the smokescreen like Lincoln Riley. If we are waiting on him to pursue other candidates, feels like a massive mistake. I have a feeling they are pursuing someone nobody knows about or is speculating about personally.

We're just fans, and we loved Saban while he was at LSU and sad he left and yes it hurt seeing him win championships at our hated rival.

Do you expect a different reaction from passionate fans?

Do we hope he comes back in some capicity to help restore LSU's program?

Yes!

If it's well known he was offered the job informally through Sexton, (why else does Vegas now have him leading the odds?) why is it so far fetched to believe he wouldn't consider it?

Everyone knows Saban is not a golf and recliner retirement type individual...he's an elite achiever, these people need to wake up everyday on a mission of some kind.

Louisiana has many of Privately Oil fields, Oil Production, Shipping, and Oil field related ancillary business that are very wealthy and dont show their books publicily. I agree not the size of Texas. Id say LA would surprise people on the amount of money in the State. Id say more than similar sized states like Bama, Miss, South Carolina, Tenn, Ark, Miz, etc. Yes we are a welfare state and have an extreme amount of poverty. However there are some heavy hitters in the state that remain quiet. Enough to keep LSU competitive in Athletics against anyone in the Country.

He is busy with gameday and is still employed by Alabama. He told people that he is enjoying retirement and that he has been in a rush and behind for 50 years. Herbie has said Saban aint coaching again. If i were lsu there is no way id hire saban at 74. You will be looking for a coach again in a few years guaranteed. Saban even said his last year was very tough on him becuase he didnt have as good of staff and he wanted so he had to do more hands on coaching. He said verbatim that if he kept doing this that he was gonna kill himself coaching.
