I can't blame the lack of a top level QB on O

O had the chance to FORCE Lsu to hire him. Had he beat Bama, the job was most likely his as long as the rest of the season went well.

So, knowing that Bama has shut down our offense for the last 5 games, we roll out the same gameplan as '14/15. He had 2 weeks to prepare for them, along with plenty of talent to score at least a few points. He layed an egg.

The biggest problem is, against Mizzou, SMiss, and OM, we ran several successful plays that were not in Les' playbook. Those plays were not used against Bama.

Instead, we played right into their hands knowing that we had an inferior Oline. We tried nothing to hide that diffeciency.

That showing disqualifies him completely in my mind, because it is a sign of things to come.

I say hire him, and give him a short term contract, but if he is a bust next year, then move on.

Oh great, that would be fantastic for recruiting and stability.

Why do you care about this? Are you paying the salary?

Are you suggesting money is not an object? I care because if money was no object we should be going after the best right and that is Saban.

Etling sucks. The oline sucks...how do you fix that in 2 weeks?

No other team has given bama the game we gave them...if some holds are called they don't get a TD

There is no excuse to score zero points with the talent we have, especially since teams we beat handily have no problem doing it.

In relation to market value, money is no object. LSU is not going after Saban because he is unobtainable, no matter what we offer. If he was an option, you dont think LSU would offer $10M a year? I have zero doubt they would.

It's been proven time and time again that you find the best coach that will come here, and pay the man. Thats what elite programs do.

This is no time to pinch pennies.

I see alot of people parading around our margin of victory against SEC opponents. Those same opponents who all put up points against Bama.

I felt much better about this shutout than the one on 1-9-12

Did we not know that going into the game? I did. Most did.

But instead of running plays that take pressure off of the oline, our gameplan depended on them being able to push Bama off the ball. That was NEVER going to work.

The only way we were ever going to win that game, was to get creative and take chances. We did neither.

The only reason we made it a game is because Aranda is a freaking rockstar.

Not a O Guy, dont think he should get it because his success is succcess we SHOULD be having.. we were top 5 team before the year started..

quote:

1) Do you feel the jobs of an interim coach and a full time coach are sufficiently the same?

they are immensely different

quote:

2) Do you think LSU can't do any better?

We can and we will Jimbo/ Morris/ Gundy

quote:

3) Do you think a guy who is the Ole Miss version of Curley can change to such a degree that he suddenly is an NC caliber coach now?

maybe, but I wouldnt bet millions on it..

quote:

) Do you just like the fact he's from Louisiana?
Its nice, but how many great coaches has LA produced?

quote:

I'm terrified about what direction the program would go and the message it would send if we were to keep a guy who had already failed as a full time to such a degree. Like historically bad. Even at his best he's a guy totally reliant on his coordinators, that's not a recipie for success.

couldnt agree more.. if his coordinators fail he is not an X's & O's coach that can right the ship in the middle of the year.. Jimbo/Morris/Gundy can do those things with the offense. They can take it over.. O cant..

quote:

LSU doesn't have to settle for a career position coach. If LSU passed on O, what kind of head coaching job could he expect to get elsewhere? Syracuse level jobs? Is that who you see as LSU's peers?

Syracuse is where he should go to try and build up to show he can do it else where.. Not at LSU..

I think bama gets up more for us than any of those teams

Kiffin found a way to score some points to win the game. While also gaining 3 times the yardage we did. Not comparable.

Plus we were at home. Inexcusable.

And LSU gets up for BAMA more than we do any other team. So those facts are negated.

So do you think if Herman were the coach for that game we would have blown the doors off Alabama?

Why, exactly? 1-9-12 was at the end of the season against a team we already beat, and we had a QB that most of us knew would play like crap, and he did.

This shutout is much worse because our offense was supposed to be trending UP. Ed O was supposed to find new and creative ways to get our playmakers the ball. HE DIDN'T. He ran the same, stale offense that Les Miles had been shoving down our throats. And this was his audition to be our long term solution

I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that we would have scored more than 0 points. And if Aranda was the DC, that means we could've won the game.

Teams don't get shut out these days. It's very rare, even against Bama.
