Why not? And I'm not necessarily saying that it is, but why not?

what about the fact the team has played much better since CLM has been fired? You don't think he has anything to do with it? They are playing much smarter, more disciplined, executing better...is none of that development?

O is a great interim coach, those skills don't necessarily translate over the long term though

I think a lot of this is attributable to the fact that we were on our way to becoming a dumpster fire under Les. He was losing the team. I give O credit for what he has done, but that doesn't necessarily mean that I'm ready for him to take over the program.

he has lost to inferior teams...not exactly what we want to see in a potential coach. Orgeron hasn't.

Sure he has. See his Ole Miss stint.

That fricking Saban guy lost to Monroe and Birmingham. That guy is never going to make it as a college football coach.

It doesn't give you pause to think "well damn look how much he has improved the team in a matter of weeks...what if he had full control" I mean there is no disputing the team he is fielding every week would have beaten the crap out of Wisconsin and Auburn. I think with an offseason to bring in an offensive guru this team could be scary.

Just your personal opinion or you have historical facts to prove otherwise?

Short term thinking.

O does not have the skills necessary to manage an elite program year round. Hes great when you need a spark, that's it.

so you want to compare a team being rebuilt to one that needs to be brought up to date offensively?

Please tell me how Ole Miss and LSU are comparable other than the fact they are SEC west teams...This should be good.

Yeah it's almost like he's been both an interim coach and a full time coach before.

He has never had the opportunity...or have I missed where he has run an elite program?

He couldn't even get a middling program to respectability and you think running an elite program is easier?

If O won out and LSU hired Herman or Fisher...who would hire O as a head coach?

He ran USC. They are usually classified as an elite program. And then they decided that he wasnt good enough and didnt keep him on.

8 weeks and 12 months a year for multiple years are completely different animals.

And then proceeded to make a disastrous hire in Sark, who apparently would rather do jello shots from coed racks than attend meetings. Then they fired him and now have a new coach who is doing rather well. And guess what?! Gasp! He too was an interim head coach.

Had to battle 2 major D1 teams for home state recruits, a history of losing, other teams, Bama, Auburn, Tenn, LSU, etc recruiting Miss. Does Ole Miss have facilities anywhere close to LSU? There are no comparisons between the 2 universities.

The question is why isn't Freeze on the short list...with what he has done at ole miss (while at a distinct disadvantage to LSU and Bama) shouldn't he be high on everyones short list?
