What’s with Arkansas not being able to find a long-term quality coach?

Might just be bad luck. Petrino was quality, but derailed himself and the program for pussy.
Bert and Morris were good hires on paper, but Bert just couldn't get over the hump despite flashes of promise, and Morris was a disaster no one saw coming.
I don't think Pittman was ever meant to be a long-term solution, but they needed someone to inherit the Morris mess and stabilize things.

Not doing better research on these coaching candidates.

Bert was a fraud and I read many Wisconsin boards and they said Barry Alvarez and Paul Chryst were the ones that helped Bert succeed.
I believe he left Wisconsin because he was feeling some heat and bolted before he got fired.
Morris was a lazy hire and had a losing record at SMU.
Sam Pittman allegedly was the only one that wanted the job but that was false.
That was another failed coaching search.

Perhaps, but Chryst didn't exceed his accomplishments as Wisconsin HC, and he has made Illinois much better since he got there. He may not be great, but I think he's a solid coach.

Forget overall record. Getting SMU to a bowl in his third season impressed people since June Jones basically stopped recruiting his last few years, and quit in the middle of his last season. Couple that with Morris' success at Clemson, and he seemed like a good hire, not a lazy one.

That’s all

Recycled Malzahn at ark would be a disaster

Bert was an alcoholic that skipped recruiting visits to go to Vegas which made Sam Pittman upset and thus left Arkansas.
He cared for his drinking and his Vegas trips than doing his duty as the head coach.
Chad Morris was a bad hire because Arkansas had no AD in place to make a decent hire.
Chad Morris lost this team the moment he stepped foot on campus.
He never bothered to bring his family with him to his house in Fayetteville.
On Fridays before the games, Morris would either fly or use a helicopter to go to games in Dallas to watch his son.
So Chad didn't care for his team, he didn't want his family to move in his house. That tells me he wanted to get fired as fast as he could, get his money and go back home.

Okay?
I said they were good hires on paper. If they didn't fully commit to the job, that's not Arkansas' fault. Hence my initial comment of bad luck.

Sure Bert was fine on paper. No negative reactions from the fans.
But Chad wasn't from the perspective of the fans and I remember some hog fans had negative reactions to the hire.
Probably because Malzahn recommend Chad being hired and not many hog fans like Malzahn.

Or Jerry’s grandson played with chads son and both came to Arkansas. If you think people listened to gus, the same that wouldn’t hire gus, you may be going crazy.
