Has Tenn offered the TCU coach?

Seems like the best coach available. Am I missing something?

Patterson will only leave Fort Worth for a truely elite job.

they're saying Calhoun (Air Force) is a done deal...

Tennessee is an elite job. Patterson is a fool for not being interested.

Now who takes over Air Force?
Posted on 1/14/10 at 1:18 pm to 7 Moves
no, it's not.
It is in a talent poor state that has to compete with Georgia and Auburn for Atlanta talent, and Ole Miss for Memphis talent or take LSU's leftovers in Louisiana(JJ being the exception for obvious reasons).

Tennessee and Alabama had the best programs for many decades in the SEC. Florida came up under Spurrier, Bama went down, GA was strong with Dooley an went down - up with Richt. With the right coach Tennessee has a national brand, great facilities and fan support, and is an elite top 10 program. Name 10 better.

I honestly think he is content at TCU. He has proven he can win there and was very close to playing for the NC.
He is being paid pretty well. While some schools could pay more, the situation for him, given their conference, and his ability to recruit has him in a nice position.

Patterson would be a terrible fit at Tennessee. He thrives by taking lesser rated recruits from Texas and fitting them into his speed based system. He couldn't do the same at Tennessee as the state has shite for talent, so he'd have to recruit all over the country with the big boys. He has no experience with that.
Now I think he could do very well at LSU or UGA, which has enough talent in state to provide him with anything he needs.

I'd add Georgia also. I orginally stopped at 10 because that was his question.

Recruiting would have some challenges but I agree from a coaching perspective the Tenn job is an elite job.
Patterson may have his reasons but Tenn >>> TCU.

I wouldn't include NE anymore. I think TN and NE are about on the same level. They can be good, but sustained greatness will be difficult in today's environment.

They have a lot of similarities. The biggests difference imo, is the Big 12 North is much easier than than SEC East.
