Maybe a move from the Sun Belt to a school in the American as a step up before getting a look from a Power 5 school would be the way to go.

Combine this with stepping out on his wife and banging a student/cheerleader while a coach...why would he be a P5 hot commodity.

Might get old but i'm sure his wallet and his wife are fine with that. Why leave? Has a very nice house, nice job, nice pay, is God the city, short commute to work, etc. The grass isn't always greener.

to do what hud does with kids from Louisiana is simply amazing. he is a wonderful coach who does not run a basic offense as mentioned. if you put him with sec talent, the sky's the limit with this guy.

Yeah his offense is anything but basic, and it's looked completely different depending on what talent he had. When he was at UNA and won the championship with them, it was almost exclusively passing, to the point that it looked like air raid.

I would think that if ULL can't get out of the sunbelt, that he'd be willing to take a smaller step up to the American or MWC, if someone will pay him.
He doesn't get that many opportunities v P5 and almost all away....hard to hold that against him.

I think he was quoted as saying that as much as he like to get looked at, that the bigger schools just "weren't calling" for him. His massive failure at top 5 Florida a couple of years ago, plus not having won an outright Sunbelt are hurting him. Also, no big wins outside of occasional mid tier conferences.

A lot of borderline talent that LSU passes on leaves the state as a second option. If he can lock down those kids, he can own the Sun Belt and be very good in another conference should they move up.

He's a great recruiter, but has not shown by any means to be a great coach at ULL. He loses games he has no business losing by wide margins. Last year it could be excused due to losing their QB for a few games, but this year he had more than enough to beat LA Tech and App St. Team was beaten badly both times at home. His Defense typically leaves a lot to be desired though his offense is very good year in and year out.

Lack of an administration from 70s-'06 that wasn't bleeding athletics.
Lack of a $25M or better athletic budget, a result of not being allowed to start an athletic fund (RCAF) until 8 years ago. See above first response.

That's the conference they've been in forever.
It wasn't until 3 years ago that C-USA started bringing in schools with ULL's profile. (Southern Miss was the only exception and they received a huge benefit from the metro and C-USA all those years, that have basically squandered).

The administrative blame for ULL is a little much. Authement spent his time and the resources elevating the university; had he not done that, ULL would be Southeastern at best. Have to build the foundation first.

What championship? Maybe one of his 2 GSC titles, but no Natty. His team always choked on the playoffs.
