Harbaugh to KU?

FootballCoachScoop has BREAKING NEWS and the FIRST TO REPORT that Stanford Head Coach Jim Harbaugh is negotiating a contract with Athletic Director Lew Perkins to be the new Head Coach of the Kansas Jayhawks. Our sources tell us that Harabugh will be named the new Head Coach at KU
when the contract details are worked out and finalized this weekend. According to our source he will be paid between $2.5 Million and 2.75 Million.
I know that this website isn't reliable but thought it was worth discussing..
IMO It doesn't make much sense as Harbaugh could wait and get any job he wanted..

This would be an epic win for KU. I don't see it happening, but I wouldn't complain if it did. My next choice is Tubbs.

he reportly makes ~700k at Stanford and lives in one of the most expensive college communities in the country (Palo Alto). Why not take a 1.5M raise, coach a season or two in the Big 12 and jump up the coaching ladder as opportunities develop?
However, he grew up loving Stanford as his dad was on staff (Harbaugh actually painted numbers on field for team as a kid). He wanted to attend Stanford for football, but may have not been able to get in, so went to Michigan.

He's one more good season at Stanford away from being the most sought after coach in the country. KU move makes no sense.

With the Stanford billionaire alums in Silicon Valley, they ought to be able to come up with $2.75m million by passing the hat around at a couple of Palo Alto, Los Gatos, and Woodside restaurants.

If he stays at Stanford I don't see him being able to sustain the success of this past year every year.

He's losing one of the best players in the country this year, and he needs to strike while the iron's hot. Stanford will be down in 2010. At KU, he'll play big 12 opponents, which will give him more national exposure than on the west coast.
PS: Not sure that Stanford had all that great a season for him to be such a hot comodity. Almost lost to ND. just sayin.

going 8-4 at Stanford is great season, especially considering they were 1-11 the year before he took over.
He's recruiting very well there also

You just made the case for him to leave. He could consistently win the Big 12 North at KU.

All the more reason for him to bolt for it. KU football will be relevant with him taking the reigns, and Nebraska will no longer have a one-horse show in the North, because Pelini has made extremely great strides in his first two seasons at NU, and they're on the verge of slamming the door shut on the rest of the division.

He may very well could get a better job than KU; but with his wife being from the area, and his daughter attending KU, maybe he's thinking in terms of what's best for his family. Some coaches are just like that. Maybe he wants a challenge. Ever think of that? Stanford was a challenge, and he's done wonders with them.
