Someone needs to put Gene Chizik on suicide watch.

What a kick below the belt........

Why do you guys think it's such a bad hire?

In my opinion, they needed to bring in a new face. They can only get better on offense though, I'm sure he'll get some things corrected on that side of the ball.

He'll need to hit a homerun when he hires a defensive coordinator. Auburn's defense looked even worse this year under BVG than it did under Ted Roof.

seems like many blame that on Chizik. I agree with you both this hire and Arky's depends on who they hire as to whether they are successful they are or not.

Auburn fans can't be overly excited about this. If true, I'm surprised; I really thought they were going to come out this in the best shape. I don't think they did that.

It sure looks like they were trying to get someone on the cheap...which I'm sure they did.

I's the best choice for AU considering that the personnel for his system are already in place.

Auburn could be back beginning next year, depending on who he gets to coach the defense.

Hands off The Chief btw.

I think the D-line took a hit when Tracey Rocker left to be an assistant with the Titans.

Sure, losing Fairley was big but the line got manhandled in the games I saw the last few years.. and I don't buy the "we're young" excuse either.

I think he does well at Auburn. Better than BB at Arkansas. Pretty good hire IMO

With the NCAA banging on the door, can this hire be similar to when bama hired Shula? Basically to get AU thru a few yrs of probation, righting the ship a bit, and then AU brings in a new HC with a better resume?

No, the NCAA is not going to do anything to Auburn. Hell Trooper is already out on the road recruiting that's how much of a joke those rumors are.

Maybe Gus will and maybe he won't. The fact remains that Auburn should have been able to attract a higher profile coach will a much better HC resume. You have to think that their budget wasn't what some thought it was.

As for Bielema, it ridiculous to think that Gus is a better hire than Bielema. The man has won the Big 10 for the 3rd time under his watch. That's major.

Yes, but unless Bielema hires a great staff he won't be getting in those players he so desperately needs for the offensive system he likes his OC to run.

Why do you think Muschamp bolted after one year

Wow, that's a reach for Auburn.

I mean he could work, not saying it's a terrible hire, just not a great hire either.

hmmm.....
