Thats a good point. Though, I think this situation is a bit different.

Not everyone at home loves Gus. There is going to be a split in the fanbase. Just look at the Arkansas board here. Both situations, Auburn and Arkansas, are going to be situations where not everyone is happy with Gus.

In the end, I don't think Arkansas and Gus make it to the alter...I don't think there is 100% support for his hiring here by the people I know that matter. I may be wrong and he gets hired. Going by the people I know who matter to our program, I don't think Gus in the next coach at Arkansas.

Then again, I had/have a direct connection with Mike Gundy and I was told he had accepted the job when Long flew off and hired Bret five years ago. So, what do I know? This situation is just a bit different. There is no Long at AD who is making this decision on his own.

Arkansas "dead serious" about getting Gus. Figure thrown around is $50 million for 7 years.

I have no inside knowledge. But as someone who moved away from my hometown to work, I have no doubt he will at a minimum listen to what Arkansas has to say. Regardless of how much their fans hate him, I believe he loves his home state and university.

The thought that Arkansas fans will forever be okay with 8-4 or 9-3 seasons is completely asinine if you have spent more than two seconds in the state.

Gus is fantastic at program building. His discipline is great. He is the only coach outside of Urban that has competed with Saban.

So, 8.5 win average? Wow a whole 1 win more than our average. Yeah that's worth 50 million. Idiots, the whole lot of em.

Gus and Sexton doing major work if they get these idiots to pay him 50 Million to be average at Arkansas. The Honeymoon will not last that long and HogFans can get as crazy as any.

I would like to announce that I'm reopening my fandom recruitment in the event Gus is named HC at Arkansas. They're still my #1, but I want to enjoy the full recruiting experience and take some officials to see what else is out there.

I prefer another SEC west team, but I'll also be willing to listen to UGA, Vandy, and USCe. My post count isn't insanely high but I make up for it in quality, plus recruits from small states like AR are often underevaluated.

Nothing against ark but their history is largely 40 years ago. As a bammer I can admit auburn is one of the top programs in the sec. The two jobs are not comparable. Had Gus left auburn for Arkansas it wasn’t to win big it was to get away from the expectations. That tells you all you need to know.

From a very reliable source gus will accept the arkansas job tomorrow evening. He feels underappreciated at auburn. Less pressure at the hogs and they can live with 2 to 3 losses. Just my 3 cents

before he edits.

Gus while at Auburn, has bested their historical average by almost 3 games a season, on average
Are you a ruthard?

quote:

The average of his seasons is a 9-4.2 while he has been at Auburn
Known as a .681 win pct

quote:

The average record for Auburn over their entire history is 6.128-3.38
Known as a 6.445 win pct

Gus has pretty much just kept AU at their historical average......

If you look at his mean season(which as a CPA I always value mean slightly above avg), gus is 8-5.........

12-2
10-3
8-5
8-5
7-6
