My hot take:
Ken to Georgia tech
Bill bellichick to navy

Merely being good and competing in their conference is most schools goal
exactly, my issue with Johnson is that he has started to struggle beating teams like Pitt, UVA, and Duke. Gotta beat those teams most years and compete for the ACC Coastal. With Clemson and UGA permanently on the schedule, you can't afford to lose those types of games. The big pitch when he was hired was that the scheme would allow us to compete with the "big boys". We got dominated by LSU, Iowa, ND, Clemson once Dabo got that machine rolling, and now by Kirby during the past 11 years. Additionally, we are losing to Pitt, Duke, UVa, and have losses against teams like Midd. Tenn State, Air Force, and BYU. That can't happen.

That's a damn strong hot take.
Not gonna lie if you are someone like BB that's been sleeping in the office for decades what better way to go into semi retirement than a yacht and a sweet little rowhouse on the harbor in Annapolis and Government benefits.

He grow up with his dad coaching there. That’s more my reasoning.
I also just want to see it happen

No, we had to give up the ACC championship because during the investigation of that player, the AD was told by the investigator that he wasn't allowed to tell Johnson what was going on because they didn't want the players to know that they were being looked into. The AD told Johnson anyways, so we got slapped by the NCAA for basically not being their bitch. It was documented somewhere that had we followed their rules, we would have had a tap on the wrist and not had to vacate any games.
I did not know that. Thanks for sharing that.
It was still dumb as shite. No way that should have been vacated over that

Reggie was far superior to all but maybe one of the qb's we've had running the option. Johnson put up some monster numbers his junior year . If anything, Reggie gave him the opportunity to showcase his ability to catch anything and everything and allowed him to fill up the highlight reel with ridiculous catches on poorly thrown balls.
Reggie in CPJ's offense would've been interesting to see. Instead he had to deal with Gailey and Pat Nix.

It didn't help that the NCAA investigator was a UNC grad (Marcus Wilson)

I just want to point out that CPJ is ending his tenure at Tech (as of today) with a 58.2 win %.
Gailey, who the CPJ fans universally despise, was 57.9%
Johnson had a weird tenure record-wise.
It seemed like he'd have a good to great season, and then follow it up with a mediocre to bad one. Hell, twice in his tenure he had a 10 win season only to follow it up with a losing record the next year.
He strikes me as a really good coach, if not incredibly inconsistent. Just goes to show how difficult it is to recruit to that system.

goodbye to the triple option. Are there any D1 teams that currently run the triple option like GT runs it? I know Nebraska use to during the Osborne era.

We don't know that yet.

All the service academies run the option.

Nebraska didnt straight up run the triple option under Osborne. It was a power run attack that had some triple option.
Teams need to get more creative running the ball. Its maddening to see every single team whose running game consists of draws and simple sweeps from shotgun. If I was trying to turn around a program id definitely employ some option and misdirection into my running game

I always wanted to see a team experiment with using the triple option for the sole purpose of running a clock out at the end of the game. Have some 3rd stringers and walk-ons dedicated for that scheme.

The triple option nowadays is the RPO (RB/WR/QB)

Getting in late here but I gotta ask - what about Neal Brown (Troy) for Ga Tech? Comes from the Leach / Mumme spread tree, which is very advantageous for an academic ACC-type school, and knows the area for recruiting.
