Given what's available, I'm hoping its Jimbo

Jimbo is better than Franklin, Tucker, Napier, who haven't proven themselves and Kiffin, who hasn't proven he can run a stable program.
He is a better hire right now than Aranda, although it's difficult to determine Aranda's ceiling.
Saban, Petersen, and B. Stoops are either retired or too old or unattainable.
Can't tell if Dabo is a serious candidate but I'd prefer Jimbo, especially if Venables didn't come with the deal.
Riley would be an excellent hire, but his defenses have been weak and he's probably a comparable candidate to Jimbo. I'd be happy with either.
Day, Fickell, and Kelly are solid but aren't coming and may not be as a good a fit as Jimbo.
This is just all my opinion, but I would be very happy if the choice is Jimbo. He'd win consistently and win a NC within 5 years.

Mr. Manswers, that is a lucid, well thought-out, intelligent assessment of the coaching search and who is available, but many will overrule it.

Woodward does not care what any of us think. He does not care about our opinion. He is the one talking to these coaches. He will make the decision. He will not be aware of a melt. He will make a hire where he doesn’t have to worry about the football team and go on with his day.

Jimbo is high floor low ceiling. He’ll recruit well and we’ll be better than we are now for sure, but he’s not bringing another NC here.
Maybe that’s what you need to stabilize the program, but I’d much rather Kiffin who will bring excitement or take a swing on one of these up and comers like Napier.

So what you’re really saying is that our options are shitty regardless.

FSU is still a train wreck
aTm having another disappointing season v pre season expectations
Why would anyone want Fisher ?

This board went crazy for kiffin and he was fired at a previous job. So yeah, the options are not perfect.

Jimbo is so overrated it's sad. Would be such a meh hire.

They see that one National Championship and get all excited about it. They fail to realize that it was very much like Orgerons National Championship. A loaded team with a great QB (in college anyway) and then the program tanked.

The people that are known that would maybe come here are
Napier
Tucker (idk if he would leave again so fast though)
Franklin
Fickel (long shot , but he may consider)
Chadwell (would come here for sure)
Petersen (long shot, barely made the list and it’s just cuz woody hired him before)
Aranda(it would be crazy to see someone leave so fast for a job that gave you your first head coaching opportunity, but Baylor will never win anything and he’s lived here before)
Brian Kelly (may come with a big offer, it’s gotten stale for him at notre dame)
Joe Brady-(by the end of the year he may be fired if shite don’t change, he would consider if fired ,I think)
Lane kiffin (he would be a long shot as well, I think he feels good about what they can do at ole miss and would love to be the first coach to win the sec at ole miss, also doesn’t want to be the guy that shows no loyalty)
Anyone else ain’t happening or they aren’t big name enough to get the job.
Maybe I forgot someone though

I keep saying this and these idiots won't listen. I swear there must be 12 year olds posting on this board. Once again from the cheap seats, We. Could. Not. Run. Him. Out. Of. Town. Fast. Enough. In. 2005! He gets Crablegs, wins one NC and the Jimbo supporters can't stop diddling themselves. I swear, if they hire this clown, I'm done with LSU football. I can't take the stupidity any longer. We dealt with Miles and Orgeron for almost 20 years. Jimbo would be an extension of that.

There are plenty of arguments against all of those guys. And plenty of reasons why you would think some of them wouldn’t leave. Jimbo is no different.
And if people bring up jimbo and fsu, you have to look at everyone and their previous failures.

Jimbo won’t leave that’s why he didn’t make the list . The people on the list would consider imo .
Jimbo Won’t, no reason to leave and start over here in the same division for roughly the same money. Can’t take his ranch with him either

It would be a lot easier to leave aTm than ND.
Petersen has a life up north.
All of these people have lives.

I agree with you.
We’re not getting Riley or Fickell
I’d prefer Jimbo over Franklin & Tucker.
But probably Napier over Jimbo.
I think Jimbo could do better here than at FSU, which was pretty damn good.
It’s not a bad hire, especially from what we had.
Jimbo will win a Natty or two here.

What failures? The last season, when his family was falling apart? Look at his record at FSU. That’s not a failure in my eyes. He could do big things with LSU’s resources.

Prepare yourself to argue this for a year.

Jimbo won’t leave
Not happening
Would like the hire, but it won’t happen
