re: Get ready for perpetual mediocrity if O gets the job

The next guy at Ole Miss did better with the talent he brought in and never got to coach except for when they were freshman or sophomores then those guys left and Nutt made the program even worse.
For all the people who think we have to hire some x and o genius
is Dabo swinney one or was Bobby Bowden one? Even Saban is not the best gameday coach but he's the best recruiter of all time

So unproven Herman is out?

If we lose the next 5 games people will say it was because it was Miles' players and Coach O didn't have time to implement his own system.

amen brother. If it works it works. We just have to wait and see how it plays out. Way to early to hire or fire Coach O. If he can get it done along with Aranda and Esnminger and Damyune Craig and Jenkins then keep the staff instact.
Remember, these weren't even his players (they are now) yet he is still getting it done. Who can say. If he wins out, beats Bama, and the team looks well coached, why wouldn't he be considered? It would be a miracle season. One for the history books.

Did Bama go hire unproven D line coach when they were down and out? Hell no.
if we can get Herman we are going to get him. If not, we need to look at other choices.

If you want to settle for O you will have to shake hands with a ceiling of 9 wins and a lot of 7 and 8 win seasons
you don't know that anymore than you know what Jimbo or Hermans record would be if they wind up here

Whom Bama hires is irrelevant. They also hired a long list of losers before they finally got Saban too, but that’s also irrelevant.

Is coach O a better coach and a better recruiter than his predecessor and the answer is a resounding yes.
Thus, if coach O wins out, the job should be his. If he finishes 4 - 1 or 3 - 2 (only with two close losses) then coach O should be under consideration for the job.
I would go all out to try to hire Jimbo. If Jimbo refuses to leave Florida State, then I would offer Herman, but I would not offer Herman any more money than I would offer coach O, because Herman is an unproven coach. If he refuses the job, then the job is coach O’s.

they just want a Louisiana personality to lead the program, even if it means 9-3 seasons and annual trips to the Texas Bowl
This is so frickng stupid.

Bobby Bowden was considered a very good offensive X/O's guy, fwiw.

maybe you don't realize how many coaches bama went through before getting lucky with saban.

that's what happens when you win 3 conference games in 3 seasons
it's not like Houston Nutt won the SEC with the team he left. They went 9-4 twice. Is that what we're shooting for now?

It's become abundantly clear that a significant portion of our fans don't actually care about winning - they just want a Louisiana personality to lead the program, even if it means 9-3 seasons and annual trips to the Texas Bowl.
so you are the judge of what coach O is capable of doing? just because these people think he will be a great coach doesn't make them accepting mediocrity.
at least we've seen him turn this team around. Herman hasn't done shite. ok he won 2 games against good teams. TWO frickING GAMES. and now he walks on water. we don't know if he can recruit. we know very little about him BUT he has been anointed as the greatest of all time.
and you have the audacity to and belittle those that like what they see about O?

I'll FIFY Get read y for perpetual mediocrity if jimbo gets the job

Unlike half our fans, I don't ignore his resume. I don't ignore the 3-21 conference record at Ole Miss. I don't ignore the fact that his predecessor and successor at Ole Miss had far more success than he did.
I don't ignore the fact that his function, at this point, is to give this team a shot of energy every week so they can get through the rest of the season, and that anything that occurs during that span will provide zero additional insight into his ability to manage and run a program over the long term - because we already have the results on that.

quote:Bama got Finebaum to turn the water hose on Rodriguez as soon as they got word Saban was interested. They effectively used Finebaum to destroy Rodriguez's wife so they could move him out of the way.
To be fair, Bama went all in on shitty Rich Rodriguez and got turned down.
