Hallman was/is an idiot who rode his associations with the Bear and the Brett into the LSU job.

To think he and Herman are in any way similar would be a waste of time. Just look at the jobs Hallman had post LSU... tells one all they need to know about his acumen.

Herman is the next big thing in coaching imo.

I am conflicted over O

Who doesn't love him? He's pushed all the right buttons so far!

Let's not forget this might be Mile's most talented team in 12 seasons...I said "could be"...

The point is, this team should perform well...

but how quickly will the love for O go away if he started losing games and everyone started saying "I knew he couldn't do it, hes not HC material"

fairly or not...that would happen

It's kind of a perception thing...He's lovable, but not sure on the mental toughness

tough deal, I am sure O knows the deal when 4-6 mil is being paid

I am just a fan, I have no clue...I just know when the team looks good and when it doesn't...

You just fired a nationally beloved coach with a buyout of 10 million midseason. You don't just take the interim tag off and go cheap at that point.

I agree. Ed orgeron basically has to get us into the sec championship game or he will not get the job. It may not be fair to do that but this is LSU. We need a proven head coach that has been there and done that. He has his opportunity nontheless. I'm sure he knows the situation he is in and understands what he has to do in order to get the nod over these top notch coaches. I personally am pulling for orgeron to get the job. Let's see what he can do the rest of the season. I believe in him and this team. It can be done for sure. If he happens to get us to the sec title game then frick everyone else, we would be stupid to not hire him at that point. Geaux tigers.

If coach O wins every game except bama in a close game I find it hard not to hire him. The guy will not be out recruited especially in Louisiana. If we keep the right assistants and he continues to let them coach without handcuffing them (like miles did) I'm not seeing many negatives.

This is my problem with hiring him even if he wins out. I'm sure he probably will be retained in that scenario.

BUT, say he is the HC for the next 5 years. This 2016 squad will most likely be his most talented and experienced. They SHOULD win the rest of our games sans Bama.

It just doesnt go a long way in proving what he can do the rest of his potential tenure.

I want Herman, Jimbo, or Petrino because i think they can do more with less. For instance, next year we lose a buttload of players, but i would still have solid confidence that those guys would still win 10+ games and then be back in the hunt for an NC in 2 years.

I just dont feel that confidence in O. And the rest of this season will not give me that confidence.

No way we buy Miles out, then buy out Petrino's 10 million, then start negotiating. You just lost credibility IMO.

If O does win out or just lose 1 , do you honestly think any of these big name guys could have taken a demoralized and divided team and staff and turned them into winners in a few weeks? I doubt it. If O does well, it speaks to his leadership and motivational skills. Hire him. He will give his soul to make LSU successful.

As a CFB fan Id like to see Petrino get a job at a school with top talent..

The problem is the "elite talent" wouldn't be restocked after it left the way it was under Les. LSU fans freak out when the occasional Louisiana stud goes to Bama; they would really hate it when nearly all of them went to other SEC schools while BP signed bad defensive athletes and high three stars with character issues.

I agree he is great for the interim coach and can rah rah with the best of them. If takes his emotion to do that.

That has no bearing (very little) on if he is a good coach year in and year out.

So would I. I love LSU. It doesn't make me a good HC.

Petrino has never been in charge of a program like LSU. Much easier to recruit there than at Arkansas and Lville.

Disagree. On paper, this team should be 11 or 12 wins. Everyone agreed with that before the season.

Thats why we were ranked #5. Just because miles screwed that up doesn't take away thier talent.

Correct. At the beginning of this season LSU had a possible of 7 first round NFL Draft selections (according to Walter Football)

Probably not in 1 week since they would be completely new to the program and not know anyone... What a stupid question. Just like your recommendation on his hire.

Petrino is a bad recruiter no matter where he is, especially on defense. A lot of the top Louisiana recruits LSU gets would go elsewhere.

LSU will have about 6-8 first 4 round draft picks, including at least 3 first rounders, with that range dependent on early declarations.

When I think about petrino and his Arkansas firing I laugh about just how many lawsuits his decision caused there to be against the university he had his girlfriend/mistress hired over more qualified candidate. Just because he was doing the bone zone he exposed Arkansas to all kinds of legal trouble regarding illegal hiring practices and total violation of ethics

Petrino is one of the top 5 OFFENSIVE coaches. He has never won anything, plays no defense whatsoever...any idea how many points bama, the Black Bears, hawgs would ring up on him? The day LSU hires either he or Briles is the day LSU sells its soul to the devil & my TAF donations, small potatoes they may be, will stop immediately. He is a POS & he & Brian Kelly at N.D. could be clones of each other.
