That’s a scary thought. OU with a real defense? That could be dangerous.

I’m predicting he goes 2-3 in his final 5 games of season..at least.

Aranda is my number one choice. Aranda has the highest value IMO.

That actually looks plausible.

Actually anything seems plausible right now.

On a personal level, I like Dave a lot. I’m just not sure he’s ready for, or is best suited for this job. The mild-mannered, soft-spoken, quiet persona doesn’t really fit Louisiana at all. You need someone to work parents, boosters, and command respect in the locker room.

Would Dave be able to fawn over 5* recruits, then turn around and “break them down” to fit your program when they get to campus? Recruiting at Baylor is a lot different than LSU.

Not saying he can’t do it, but there’s a lot of unknowns.

He’s a professional. I’m sure he would put together a staff to get lsu back on track

I keep saying this, but Aranda will be the coach of a major program in the next five years. Up to us if we want to be that program

Aranda was an offensive guy before we dug into the defensive world. It’s what makes him such a great DC

On the other hand, look how shitty LSU football became the second he left LSU and left his Co-HC title at the door. You have to really think about just how much he held them together since O officially took over.

I’d love Aranda as HC and think he would do better than most give him credit for. If the top guys tell us no of course, you go bring Dave home

Aranda is a tier1 coach, if Woodward’s huge whale slips away, get Aranda.

I’m an OKC attorney. A colleague of mine is an OU booster, former Jim Thorpe Award committee member, and close-first cousin of a certain P5 coach who got fired yesterday. Just trying to establish some credibility on his opinion. We were talking about the state of college football and the coaching carousel. Of course he has some bias in that he doesn’t want us to possibly poach Riley but he touted Aranda. He said, “Matt is a very good friend of Dave Aranda and thinks very highly of him. They’re both Christian guys and share the same values, plus Matt says the guy just has an incredible football mind. In fact he says most in the coaching world thinks highly of him and expect he is going to do some great things, whether at Baylor or the next stop.”

Like I said, take it for what it’s worth. Of course OU fans would gladly tout other names besides Riley, but that doesn’t mean what he says isn’t true. To be honest it got me to think more about Aranda than I had previously and more excited at the prospect. I hope Scott at least takes a good look at him.

On the other hand, just because the coaching community likes someone doesn’t mean they will be as successful in P5 football. The coaching community, I had been told, was really big on Chad Morris a few years ago before he want to Arkansas.

So explain to me why we handed the keys over to the shrimp boat captain instead of the football mind Dave Aranda?

Interesting (to me, at least) his offensive coordinator this year at Baylor that has helped them to this year's record is a dude that made BYU look all world last year. He also happens to be another former LSU coach (OL for Miles) Jeff Grimes.

I almost feel like this works against Aranda though. So much of Coach O was "he's one of us/he's a good fit" that I think Aranda would feel like a similar hire and I know Woodward wants to message he's getting the best coach, regardless.

I think you are way underselling Aranda here. The parents would love him because he is no nonsense and no shenanigans, the players love him because he earns their respect by knowing what he’s doing, and the boosters will love him because there won’t be any off field issues with him

If you bring in Amanda, assuming the old rumors were true, you have to think that Tom Herman is first in line for OC.
