Thought they hired the Kentucky DC?

Idk where that came from. Maybe them having the same last name confused him

It came from burreauxxx so of course it had no validity

I haven't done the obsessive deep dive yet that I'll do later this week but it appears to be a good hire. He took over a horrific Syracuse defense ranked in the 100s a few years ago and turned them around in one year. He's had two straight top 20 defenses at Nebraska and was nominated for the Broyles Award twice. It also looks like he's bringing his defensive line coach with him who is also highly thought of. He was also formerly a recruiting coordinator so we're hoping that will factor in well recruiting down here. There's some apprehension about him running a 3-3-5 but he's shown to be very multiple with it and has a ton of different blitz looks which FSU fans have been begging for. There's a good vid with Urban Meyer going over the scheme and how hard it is to prepare for. White sort of came out of nowhere as far as the DC hotboards we've all been reading but I'm liking the hire more and more

He’s a good coach, he did a great job with Nebraska. But not a shocking move by any means. Rhule bringing in Holgorsen to “consult” on offense and the other guy on defense mid season while you have active coordinators makes you go “Hmmmm…?”
Tony wants to, and will be, a head coach in the near future. He interviewed for a handful of openings last year. Most of the opinions I’ve heard (he hasn’t spoken yet) is he’s an ambitious guy that’s probably always thinking “What’s next?” and hard to keep around any one place very long

And yes, Pot Roast Knighton is going with Tony to FSU to coach D Line. And he is the real deal. Easily the best position coach we had on staff

Tony white is a good DC imo. Wanted him at lsu as an option.

What happened to that Defensive Line Coach from FSU that had been there from the Bowden days? Did he retire or get fired? Can’t remember his name

Rhule isn't dumb. They probably had a conversation about this and that's why it all happened.
Should feel good about Rhule and the direction of The football team.

You're thinking of Odell Haggins who is a beloved FSU legend, both on the field and off as a recruiter and producer of countless NFL DTs. We all love him but it's time for an off the field role, which Norvell is giving him with the respect he deserves and we all appreciate that
I appreciate the Husker responses. It's a big adjustment to go from a 4 man front with a DT and DE coach to a 3 man front with a single DL coach.

Just announced moving to an off the field role. Was FSUs DT coach for 31 years. Longest run as an assistant coach at a D1 school in history. Legend but time for new blood.

His defense at Nebraska was too inconsistent. You never knew what defense would show up from week to week. Sometimes they'd play great (vs. Ohio State) and at other times they'd be horrible (vs. Indiana). Generally the defense performed well against poor opponents and struggled against any team w/ an actual pulse.

True and I'd be lying if I said it didn't concern me. I guess on the bright side if Indiana put up 56 on Tony they would have put up 112 on Adam Fuller
