I have seen several threads comparing Jefferson to Flynn and it is somewhat laughable. Flynn is so far superior to Jefferson that it's not even close. And it goes way beyond the measureables.
Flynn was a winner. A team leader. He was smart (if I say gym rat, I can get all of the white stereotypes in). But it's true.
This is where some people apply a "NFL Combine" type measuring stick to college football. It doesn't work.
Edit to add: I think JJ is the best QB on the team and I'm not saying he shouldn't be starting. However, I think he is in the lower half of SEC QBs at this time. It's a stupid argument to begin with, comparing current players with past. The circumstances are always different: different opponents, teammates, situations, etc.

Go compare the game by game results of that season to the game by game results of this season and let me know if you still feel the same way.
People like to pick and choose statistics to suit their agenda. When bitching about LSU this year, it's not the won-loss record, it's how bad the team plays and looks. However, when comparing JJ and Flynn, let's only compare the won-loss record. Let's don't look at the results. LSU's offense was awesome that year. Scoring 40 or more 8 times and less than 28 only once (in the SECCG when Flynn didn't play).
When you lose 43-37 and 50-48 in triple overtime, it's not on the offense. What did we score in our three losses this year?

we didn't exactly kill 4-loss florida, shitty AU team without an offense, ole miss, etc in 2007

Kentucky was in the top 10 at one point in 07' but still inexcusable to lose that one. I remember Zinger dropping a TD pass that would have probably iced the game in the second half and a long TD pass to Toliver being wiped away on a bad P.I. call in the first half.
The Ark game was missed opportunities. We got turnovers early and couldn't convert anything but FGs. Let them hang around too long and paid the price. Then Early lines up wrong and wipes out a Hester TD that would have iced the game.

JJ: 169/272, 1964 yards, 62.1%, 7.22 y/a, 16 TDs, 6 INTs, 137.8 rtg
MF: 183/332, 2233 yards, 55.12%, 6.72 y/a, 17 TDs TDs, 10 INTs, 125.8
I took Flynn's stats and subtracted the BCSNCG since JJ hasn't had an opportunity to play in a bowl yet.
-Both players started 11 games.
-JJ has a higher yards per attempt, so theoretically he would have thrown for more yards than Flynn did was he given the opportunities.
-JJ has a higher completion %
-MF threw for a whopping 1 extra TD in 60 extra attempts
-Both guys missed regular season games against patsies (Flynn vs. MTSU, JJ vs. La. Tech)
-JJ threw 4 fewer picks
-This year LSU rushed for 1555 total yards, in 2007 LSU rushed for (get ready for this) 2998 yards.
In summary - our running game was HALF as effective as it was in 2007. Had we any running game at all this year JJ would have been even more productive...
ETA: And I didn't even take the time to subtract the 6 extra quarters of offense Flynn got to play in those multiple triple OT games...

Is no one else blown away by the fact that we rushed for nearly half as few total yards this year than we did in 2007? I was blown away when I saw that.

You've got to be kidding.
That said, Flynn and Jefferson will end up being on the same level as college QBs... "good college QBs" when all is said and done.
Neither was or will be "great" college QBs, but both can get the LSU program to where it needs to be.
