Nothing wrong with it because it is a very tall task. Why test yourself vs the country’s best coaches, best athletes, and the best division in the best conference in football when you could easily be exposed and be returned to irrelevance?

The easy way out is to have your defense dominate the military academies, UConn, Temple, GT every year and have the media slurp you up like they always do to Notre Dame. All while still getting paid the big bucks compared to Cincy. Then boom you’re a big shot HC somewhere and even if you fall flat you still got paid in the end

The guy did what was best for him and his family, not what us keyboard warriors think. I would have loved to had him but...if you ain’t a Tiger you tiger bait.

He went to a team that just went to the playoffs that is just a couple hours from his home. It was always gonna be a tough pull to get him.

That's nonsense. Notre Dame is closer to family and home, it has a storied history as a premier Catholic university, and it sounds like they offered about the same in compensation as LSU did.

If LSU doesn't improve enough next season, coaches know that O will be cutting them to save his own hide. If there are bigger and more stable jobs out there they rank higher than LSU.

Nah, maybe he’s coming back as O’s replacement in a few years?

Notre Dame would be more of a challenge than LSU imo.... He builds that defense into one that can hang then the dude is a wizard

Nah he probably didn’t want to coach under O.

This. He chose a program that has stability at the head coach position. Can’t blame him for that.

Since he is looking for a stepping stone, ND is a wise choice. Lots of national attention, easier schedule, probably less criticism. Also, like many have pointed out he is closer to family.
