If he ever plans on being a head coach, he should just take the job. Arkansas State was a great launching pad for Malzahn. Perhaps it will be the same for Wilson if he is offered the job.

I agree on that. He has no HC or coordinator experience so even a mid tier BCS conference job might be a bit much. A small school to learn the ropes would be best, if that's what he wants to do.

LoL at some of you thinking a small raise is going to make him stay. Such small minded people. He isn't taking the Arky st job for a small increase in pay. He is taking the job so he can end up at a major program like the other arky st coaches before him.

That's true. I'm not questioning Frank taking the job but it will have to be for more money even if it's just slightly more. Also, Arky St. would be taking a big risk with him as he has never been anything but a positions coach.

As of right now he isn't taking anything. He's only mentioned as a possible candidate.

I am sure Frank Wilson will do awesome at Arky State. Knows all of the recruiting in the area and apparently was a huge part of the success for LSU.

Again, they said the same thing when Memphis hired Porter from the same exact position and the dude was fired after getting 3 wins total in his first 2 years.

Very few if any position coaches make the jump successfully. Name one position coach/recruiting coordinator that has ever successfully transitioned into a head coaching position straight from that position?

Well, except that whole no head coach experience and he's been the running backs coach in a pro-style offense. I'm sure Arky St. will look to someone that will run what they already run.

My question is how much more does Wilson have to accomplish at LSU? Cam Cameron is the OC and I don't see him leaving anytime soon. What can LSU offer Wilson that would help him to advance his career?

Wilson will leave at some point. I just don't see him being the top option for Arky State.

I don't know, but he'll make the choice he feels is best for him.

Stating facts about how others have fared in similar situations isn't melting. Comparing Saban, a proven head coach that wins titles going to UT is a bit different than a position coach taking over a head coaching position.

Whatever Wilson chooses, LSU fans will wish him the best.
