IMO for him and the school. Thoughts?

If Frank should ever leave LSU I suppose Juluke would be a good fit to take over as RB coach. Juluke's recruiting ties throughout the state are a plus and his rep as a position coach is growing with the performance of LA Tech RB Kenneth Dixon. Losing Frank, while significant, would not be as great a hole to fill with Orgeron now on LSU's staff. That is provided Orgeron doesn't get another job.

Maybe at Tulane but I can't see him getting good players to want to go to ULM. Better chance he could recruit well at Tulane.

but as a Tulane fan I'd prefer to stay away from another coach who has never even been a coordinator. It would really come down to who he brought in as his coordinators.

After checking out salaries I'm not sure ULM could afford Frank. Todd Berry makes $360k a year in Monroe and apparently they had to stretch to get him that $. Frank is not going to take such a huge drop in salary to go to Monroe.

I wouldn't wish that hell on Frank after all the hard work he's done at LSU. ULM's budget is embarrassingly small for an FBS program. I know they were at the bottom a few years back (under $10MM). They don't have the resources or support to build a program regularly going to bowl games.

UL Lafayette was in a similar situation several years back (Pre-Hud) with 0 shits given about winning, shite facilities and pennies for a budget. They finally put effort into winning regularly, making postseasons, paying coaches, investing in facilities. I'm not sure if ULM is in a position now or even has the interest of building their athletics to respectability. They missed the boat on that a few years back when they got all the interest and support after the Arkansas win. Didn't cash in on all that.

In all honesty, ULM should drop down to FCS.

Losing Frank Wilson would be really bad for LSU.
I'm pretty sure he's the highest paid assistant coach in NCAA

I don't see him taking a pay cut to go to a mid tier school. He's paid well and is in a perfect position. He's even gotten some Miles replacement buzz (I don't think we promote from within tho) and as long as he stays properly compensated, he'll be here

Maybe I'm just being optimistic

And that ha been one of Curtis johnsons 2 great mistakes: when good assistants left he replaces them with guys who were just hanging around. Mike Neu leaves and he hires the OCs brother who had been hanging around since Norm Chow ran him off from Hawaii. Special teams coach leaves and he replaces him with the guy who coached Toledos dreadful special teams, who had been in an administrative job the last 3 years.
The other big issue is running an offensive scheme ill suited for the college game and hiring an OC who didn't know how to run it.
Johnson doesn't know what he's doing. But he could help himself by realizing that and Try to fix things that have failed miserably ove 3+ seasons. And hire quality coaches who could help him.
He also cut spring practice short the last 2 years which show he really doesn't know what to do.

Frank can do better than those two schools.
Small LA directional school is not the career path to Power 5

They are up to $12million now LINK

ULM doesn't even have a seperate athletic fund. So just like UL-L back in the day their financial outreach is limited.

It would be for the best, but they won't do it. ULM has too much "pride" to admit defeat and drop down to FCS

he'd never go to ULM, but at Tulane?

the American's rep has increased to the point where we're mentioning an undefeated winner to the CFP. that helps all those teams get coaches on Frank's level.

only thing is Tulane won't go all in... that's not who they are or who they want to be.

Or Southern Miss. As others have pointed out, can any school that could really use him afford him?

I mean, if Memphis or Houston had an opening, that might be the lowest level school that could make it attractive enough - and even then, he would be going to build credentials to get a major in 3 to 5 years.

He may look around at all the former head coaches on the current staff and say, "Hell. I like it right here."

I think Frank stays at LSU a few more years. Between his time at Karr, NOPS, OP Walker and LSU he is very close to pension eligibility.

Yea, just look at all the good coaches that have gone to Tulane never to be heard from again. Oh wait that's never happened. The few times Tulane has got a good coach he has gone on to get a better job
