Source tells FootballScoop Fulmer is set to meet with Mel Tucker today in NYC. We understand this will be Tucker’s second talk with the Tennessee search. Kevin Steele remains a candidate and Chad Morris has visited with Fulmer as well (after already having visited with Currie). All of the above is per sources and we continue to hear that while in New York Fulmer is keeping his options open with regards to other potential candidates. We also though continue to hear Fulmer would like to have his man decided by the end of the day. Will update as more is clear.

Les was the best choice. Tennessee will settle for another average coach

Interesting hire if it happens. At least it will weaken Georgia a little.

Ehh. Would be better than Steele. Can he recruit?

If we are going after a sitting defensive coordinator, I think I would rather have Venables or Pruitt

Wow, this is coming outta nowhere. I just can't believe Fulmer would take Tucker over a proven HC like Miles.

I literally knew nothing until this morning about Tucker other than he was at Bama and Georgia. His resume is actually pretty impressive imo.

Can he recruit? Is he a hardass, authoritarian type?

Damnit, I was really hoping they'd hire Les. I want him to coach in the SEC again. I'd pull for Tennessee every time except when they play LSU.

Leave it to Tennessee to frick this up even more than it already is. Come on, Fat Phil!

Les is 9 wins away from surpassing Fulmer. Uncle Phil isn't going to give him that shot.

Does Fulmer want a puppet so that he is the de facto coach?

In what universe would Arkansas snub their nose at Venables? Am I missing something?

Les was likely never an actual choice. He would be coaching for free. He and Phil probably had a few drinks and shot the shite for old times sake.

Huh? If you are talking about negative comments about Venables then you aren't going back far enough in the forum. There is a reason that Venables is such a conflicting figure on our board and it really doesn't have much to do with Venables himself.
