With Lane and Sumrall having had intimate discussions lately it seems as if they want to co-parent the Florida gators

Without even talking with him. Guess that’s like when we hired Sunbelt Billy.

i dunno... like i said, he's much more familiar with Ole Miss, so if that's open, it's hard to not see him taking that, just due to that familiarity while taking on a bigger job... he's coached, basically, at 3 programs... Kentucky, Ole Miss, and Tulane... he may feel more comfortable taking a big job somewhere where he knows the landscape, vs going to an unknown while trying to acclimate to the demands of a big time program...

He was at Ole Miss for 1 season.

He was at San Diego for 4 years.

Kentucky like 4-5 years but 2 separate times.

Troy for 2 years.

He was Raised in Alabama. Coached at Troy for 2 years and his wife is an Auburn grad.

How is 1 year at Ole Miss as a linebacker coach knowing the landscape more than Auburn?

Go back behind the counter and take green fees. Stay out of this because you have no clue what you are talking about.

Florida locking Sumrall down before LK decides to stay at Ole Miss leaving LSU with Frank or Baker.

b/c 1>0

quote:

He was Raised in Alabama.

so... that means he should be all things Auburn? not sure how this correlates or means anything, really...

quote:

Coached at Troy for 2 years

again, what does this have to do with Auburn?

quote:

his wife is an Auburn grad.

so he'd take the job to make his wife happy? not sure what this has to do with HIM being familiar with Auburn, over a place he actually coached at

I think I heard on the broadcast that Sumrall called kiffin to talk about what lane was thinking.

You said he ‘basically coached at 3 programs’ which wasn’t true.

He was a linebacker coach at Ole Miss for 1 year which yeah is more than 0 but then by your logic, San Diego, Tulane and Kentucky has more of a shot at getting Sumrall to stay/coach there since he has spent more time there and knows the inner workings.

He and his wife was raised in Alabama. If you don’t think that matters I don’t know what to tell you. Tulane lost Fritz to Houston because the grandkids were in Houston and his wife was flying to Houston constantly. Fritz had turned down other power jobs, but Houston was the job most Tulane fans thought he would leave for.

Coaching at Troy means he has already established relationships with high schools in the state. I get that with NIL and unlimited transfers that getting kids right out of high school isn’t as important anymore.

And again, he coached Ole Miss in 2018….things have changed since then.

No matter if he goes to Auburn or Ole Miss I wish him the best (and beg that he takes Joe Craddock with him).

pretty sure it was understood we were talking about the FBS, but guess not... and no, i'm not equating the absolute length of time the guy has coached at the more probable, statistically speaking, he is to taking/keeping said job... i'm saying he has experience at one place, vs. none at the other.... if you were getting a big promotion, and it would be between one place you've worked at before vs. a place you've never worked at before, so one is a more known commodity than the other, and this new job was going to be much more demanding of you and your time and energy, most people would choose to go to a place of known status vs. the unknown, for the sheer fact that it's a little easier to adjust, especially in a high demand job like that, at a place you know vs. one you don't

what Fritz values and chooses to do, doesn't mean that all coaches do the same.... Sumrall may be like this, he may not... but not sure how what Fritz does is indicative of Sumrall, like you are trying to project...

quote:

Coaching at Troy means he has already established relationships with high schools in the state.

then wouldn't coaching at Ole Miss mean he has already established relationships with high schools in that state? or does it stop at the AL/MS state line, only to help strengthen your argument?

quote:

he coached Ole Miss in 2018…

cool.. what year did he coach at Auburn again?

Nah. That whole "cancelled interview" story was just cover. Someone leaked it and they made up a cover story of "Sumrall not being interested."

While I want Sumrall at AU, I am positive Cohen fumbled this and he will end up at UF.

Yep Sumrall himself said this in an interview. He didn't say WHY he talked to Kiffin, just that he did. It seems logical that Kiffin told him the Florida job is his.
