Florida is expected to hire Chargers “Asst.” DB Coach Will Harris following todays game…

Chargers play the Broncos today. Announcement should follow today or tomorrow.
He was previously the DB coach for the Washington Huskies.

• As Georgia Southern DC, his defense ranked No. 2 in FBS in red zone stops.
• His Washington secondary was the nation’s No. 1 pass defense in 2021.
• In 2020, UW was first in Pac-12 in total defense & pass defense.

I was hoping USC would bring back Harris, but those secondaries at UW were Jimmy Lake's doing.
Not sure why he left Georgia Southern other than not wanting the career stain that tracks Clay Helton.

This. Harris was learning under Lake, but it was Lake who recruited all of those guys and developed them. I think Harris could have learned a lot during that time and end up being pretty good, but I would give 90% of the credit to Lake on that list of players.
The fans were not too thrilled with Harris while he was here. He was a pretty poor recruiter compared to Lake.

well, if it's a bust, then it's a bust. he was only going to get a year, probably, anyway. florida's 2024 season is not riding on this hire. at least not 100%.

Im sure he will be fine for a year. Its hard to attract top flight assistants when the HC is on borrowed time.
