Agree. Campbell would be very underwhelming.

Mangino was such a terrible example that has no relevance to this conversation lol

Kansas > Iowa State

Let that sink in.

Great. We’re going to roll the dice on a coach that has not been successful at a high level. Not the hire I would expect out of a program that pictures itself as a top 5 program.

Here's a comparison;
Les Miles won a NC at LSU
Les Miles got fired, and couldn't win, at Kansas.

Gene Chizik won a NC at Auburn after going 5-19 at ISU.

Cristobal apparently went home to see his sick mother this weekend as well.

He's a Miami native. Could have met him their.

His agent kicked tires a few weeks back but nothing came of it.

I'd rather it be Rhule in Miami though.

At least Stoops made a bad SEC team average.

Campbell made a bad Big 12 team average.

We've only done it 3 consecutive times and have had a national championship coach each time. I wouldn't consider this rolling the dice. He's a solid coach.

We should never be at the Campbell or Stoops level. If we are here then SW failed. Kiffin and Aranda both better in that same tier.

If something comes out of this, great.

I'm done putting 'stock' into tracking these flights.

I'll believe it when the guy is introduced, whomever it may be.

2 of 3 turned out to be the village idiots. Thankfully the first one paid off.

Well, he’s in year 6 and he is coaching a very mediocre football team in a very mediocre conference.

Iowa St has an all-time winning percentage of 45%. Maybe we have different definitions of mediocre but to me that's horrid.

If it's Matt Campbell, and I'd be ok with the hire, it's 100% proof Woodward whiffed hugely

For comparison, this would be like meeting a coach from Baton Rouge in Beaumont instead of New Orleans or Lafayette.

Trust me, I’m not either. Just thought I would add to the conversation. Apparently the fact that I’m not fired up about a 7-5 Big 12 coach stole the headline.

No one has studied these coaches like SW. He knows what he's looking for and that's good enough for me.
