The buyouts are obscene
A&M has no one to blame but themselves about that IMHO.
They had to give Jimbo insane numbers for a contract and a buyout to get him to take the job.
They wanted their guy and they got him. Be careful what you wish for.
As an LSU fan, I see it as yet another potential Miles replacement who failed elsewhere. O set back the program in his final two seasons but he brought an incredible title run as well. Would Jimbo or that jackass at Texas be able to have pulled that off?

Do that again without Winston.
Is he supposed to play qb himself?

Serious question but if another school hires him is any of that offset by the new contract? I know Gene Chizik and possibly Gus Malzahns had a clause like that in it

I feel like they could have gotten him with a lot less buyout. They wanted that big splash hire that wowed cfb and they’re paying for it now

I don’t think it was a “big splash” as much as “want to ensure they got their guy immediately without dicking around.”
They didn’t want the same shite like we had when Tom Herman had a large offer from us and wanted us to wait so he could play Texas off us to get more money.

That $$ would be better spent in NIL.

And he has no offset. So he could take another job and double dip.
Who in their right mind would hire him? Even if he was willing to take a coordinators job, he is an offensive coach and QB guru who has had five years of horrible offenses and shite QB's.

It just takes one AD, and if these contracts tell you anything, they aren’t as smart as you think.

$125,350,000 / 45 wins=
2.785 million per win
2.785 million per win

What’s funny is that the initial contract for Jimbo would expire in 2027 and they’d owe about $34mm in buyout. Instead, they gave him an extension after the Covid season, thinking that was a real season, and they more than double the buyout because of it.

This all started with Bama and their ridiculous offer to Saban out of desperation.
This all started with " Belichick hysteria" and Notre Dame freaking out they may lose Charlie Weis to the NFL after 7 games and "locking him in" with a ridiculous extension and of course an absurd buyout.
Charlie Weiss was getting paid over $2 million annually to not coach there which was more than Brian Kelly got paid to coach there.
Who the frick was TAMU going to lose Jimbo Fisher to they needed an insane guarantee?
The parachute buyouts are insane, CFB got so crazy with the sports world equivalent of "Tulip Fever" coaches figured out these dumb arse schools were off their rocker for shiny hardware to put in a Trophy case.

Shouldn’t Ed Orgeron be on that list with his $17 million?
