A few nuggets

He has not heard the Chip Kelly rumors and said he’s actually heard they’re working on a new deal for an extension

Said the Harbaugh talk is very real. Said a lot has to do with the Raiders game Sunday. If they win they are in the playoffs and less likely to fire the coach

The Bears could also be a possibility.

He said two names he would expect Michigan to go after if he bolts is Bill O’Brien and Matt Campbell

Jim got his arse kicked in the playoffs and realized there's no hope of winning a natty at UM

He's been through the Saban Rehab Facility.

I'm sure he's awesome now.

But it also seems so very on brand for Michigan.

Bill O Brown was a terrible GM and has the personality of a porcupine but he was really a decent coach with the Texans if you look at his record only and ignore the awful trades and personal moves

I don't like Campbell or BOb for Michigan. They need a damn good recruiting HC

Neither bring that to the table.

In order to get to the next level like OsU they have to recruit nationally.

They should open the bank to Fickell, then Kiffin

I think O’Brien is a fine fit at Michigan.

Raiders need to hire the coach they have now. The dude took a shite situation and has them one win away from the playoffs.

Would Fickell leave Cincinnati for Michigan?

Would Michigan take Kiffen?

Not sure it’d be worth it.

The playoffs have shown they’ll put a G5 team in, and he’s got an easier road in the AAC than in the Big Ten.

Fickell better leave soon while his name is still hot. OC gone, DC gone, some staffers gone, his QBs and good CBs gone too. Its gonna be a rebuild for Cincinnati and now they'll have less media attention after getting dominated in the playoffs.

Fickle will never be worth more than he is now at Cincinnati.

Fickell has been a strong G5 recruiter, is respected and well-known around the Midwest. I think he would translate up quite well.

Kiffin hasn’t proven to be an amazing recruiter, at least not yet. Not without the Saban machine behind him. He hasn’t really impressed in that respect at Ole Miss yet. Maybe NIL money generated by a huge Michigan alumni base would change that, but it’s not a given. I do think Kiffin would recruit better than Campbell though, so he’s an interesting candidate if the job opens.

Fickell may not be the sexy hire, but he’s definitely a better fit there. And the last time Michigan went out on a limb for a guy who didn’t fit going in, it was a disaster for them. I think Michigan could get either if they want them, though.

It was earlier in the season, but I heard a midwestern sports journalist on someone's radio show say that Fickle would likely stay in the midwest, but could not see him going to Michigan. Something about the hate between a buckeye and Michigan running too deep.

He thought it would be a program like Notre Dame or maybe Penn State. When we hired Kelly, I thought Fickell to ND was a no brainer.
