He could (or could have) won it at Ole Miss this year.

There's 12 teams that can play for a title now rather 2 in the BCS era. So data from the year 2000 is completely irrelevant.
There is so much wrong with this sentence I don't know where to start.

I don’t think so. Not with that defense.
That said, if Lane were to come to LSU…he better bring somebody not named Golding.

I don’t think Ole Miss gets out of the 1st round. And I think Lane knows it.
Ole Miss could very well be in the semi finals. And from that point, who knows what can happen.

Ole Miss at the current moment because they are headed to playoffs

Not factoring in this season the correct answer is probably Florida.
LSU’s 3 permanent opponents are Ole Miss, Arkansas, and A&M
Ole Miss: LSU, Miss St, and Oklahoma
Florida: South Carolina, Kentucky, Georgia
Florida and LSU are roughly the same program as far as potential in my opinion and have a significantly easier permanent schedule. Presumably you can lose 2 games and get in the playoff nearly every year and both Ole Miss and LSU have two losable permanent opponents where as Florida should have two nearly guaranteed wins.

In the bcs era it came down to 2 teams. If you were 5th you had no shot at the end of the season. 12 teams makes the playoffs.
How is this difficult? You understand numbers right?

The championship game will always have 2 teams. How they arrive at that doesn't really matter as far as what job in the best. LSU Is BY FAR the best job objectively. 3 NC's with 3 different coaches. Talent rich state with no instate rival. NIL money being pledged at a rate higher than both Florida and Ole Miss. Like I stated previously LSU is a much much better job than Ole Miss and better than Florida although Florida isn't that far away from LSU.

Ole Miss is pretty much guaranteed make the playoffs this year so they would be the most likely to win a natty first. Can't win a title if you don't make the dance.
Gotcha. So your argument is Ole Miss gives him the best chance because they actually have a chance to do it within the next couple months.
Fair enough.

Lane wants a National Championship.
Maybe. Im sure he'd like one but if you're implying that that is his primary motivation for a change of venue I'd disagree.

Which university gets him there fastest? UF or LSU or OM?
Think about staffing, recruiting, NIL, facilities, etc.
I find it awful haughty to be standing here talking about how LSU or UF is clearly in a better situation for winning when OM is the only ones in the playoffs. It seems easier for us because we've done it recently and more frequently but Miami, Nebraska, and Tennessee say that is relatively meaningless for the future.
