Evaluate a coaches record minus his best QB - Fisher is not so special

This is something which allows one to assess whether the success is the system of the coach, or good fortune with a once-in-a-decade QB (Winston)
Fisher has had 2 special years in his 7 at FSU. '13 and '14 with Winston.
The others, in the ACC mind you, have been very Les Miles like.
I am not convinced that he is all that.
Why are we willing to pay him such high dollars, when most of his success has come with Winston?
Jimbo at FSU

Well he also recruited Winston. Out of Alabama.
And made developed him into a superstar despite him having an IQ of a pineapple.
He also has had 1 year in 7 with less than 10 wins. He has 3 ACC titles (yes without Winston once!) and has developed lackluster QBs like EJ Manual and Christian Ponder so well he tricked the NFL into making them first round draft picks.

Why would you do this?
Why not evaluate him minus his WORST QB?

Not to mention, Bowden left that place in terrible shape and Jimbo had a legitimate rebuilding effort his first couple of years.

This is possibly the worst thread started on coaching changes and that is saying a lot.

114-34
2 conference championships
1 national title win, 2 visits.
Wanna guess who I'm talking about?

Jimbo>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>O
The daily efforts and angles being put forth to discount Jimbo in favor of Ed O. are getting so old.

if you throw out his best years, you have to throw out his worst years as well
this is retarded

LSU would be lucky to hire another Les

This is not about Les Miles vs. Jimbo. He's gone, wouldn't change his offense, got fired.
We're comparing O to Jimbo. No comparison.
Are you insinuating we had a coach w/a similar record to Jimbo and we fired him, so let's try something different and hire a coach with a losing record as a HC?

Evaluate Nolan Ryan if you take away his fastball. Pretty much just a journeyman pitcher.
And, these idiots put him in the Hall of Fame
wait.......

D. Craig deserves a ton of credit for getting him

Jimbo's winning percentage without Winston is about the same as Urban's winning percentage at Florida without Tebow.
Florida with Urban
2005 - 9-3
2006 - 13-1
2007 - 9-4
2008 - Tebow (13-1)
2009 - Tebow (13-1)
2010 - 8-5
Winning percentage without Tebow = 75%.
Florida State with Jimbo
2010 - 10-4
2011 - 9-4
2012 - 12-2
2013 - Winston (14-0)
2014 - Winston (13-1)
2015 - 10-3
Winning percentage without Winston = 76%.

He managed to make Christian Ponder a first round draft pick. Thats all I need to know and the only thing LSU has been missing for quite a while.

Why is there such a push to hand this program over to Orgeron on a permanent basis? Four wins against average competition? An outstanding defensive effort (mainly due to the DC) and a putrid offensive performance against the one outstanding opponent during that stretch?
It boggles the mind.
It boggles the mind.
