ESPN RADIO

Some reporter ( sorry I didn't catch his name) being interviewed on ESPN Radio on XM just discussed the Miles - Pelina situation. He said the following:
1. Miles' agent is in BR this evening meeting with the LSU administration. He didn't know for what. But his guess that it would be to negotiate Miles' buyout (get the $1.2mm reduced).
2. The Lloyd Carr group at Michigan is against Miles getting the job and that Carr timed his resignation to put Miles behind the 8 ball.
3. Tom Osborn has told some candidates that they are down to two, but hasn't said which two. The info he has is that it's between Pelini and Turner Gill. The reporter said if thats the case, he would have a hard time believing Osborn would pick Pelini over Gill because of the close relationship they have. Osborn was even Gill's best man at his wedding.
Take it for what it's worth.

Good luck with that. If Miles does leave, then that money is our bonus to lure more prospective coaches here.

Ain't no way Skip reduces the 1.2. If he does he is an idiot, why have the clause. I'd say it's 1.2 and pack your shite and move on.

Like they have said repeatedly, Carr is not the man in charge, he will be an assistant to someone and not have interaction with the head coach.

Doesn't matter, Les would gladly pay that money. It can go towards the Nicholaus Saban fund.

Maybe Michigan will pay the 1.2 to LSU.

it will be reduced
Sure will, especially if we have some really big names (Spurrier, Del Rio) seriously interested in the job.
The sooner Les is gone, the sooner this thing gets serious.

it should read that the school that picks him up must pay LSU the monies and it can't come from the coach himself.
that is how they do it with transferring visa sponoships for workers in the states. makes things sticky.

They buyout won't be reduced if Bertman has anything to say about it.

Michigan will not pay for that buyout.
They didn't pay for Beline's buyout to West Virginia (something to do with taxes)
Looks like Les is going to find a way to raise some cash.
Also, keep in mind, ESPN radio said this past weekend that their sources were telling them that Rich Brooks was going to retire after the bowl game...That was news to Rich...he called from his cell phone while on a recruiting trip to call the rumor bullshite!
I know this exciting...take things with a grain of salt...reports from local and national media had Billy Donanvan as UK's next basketball coach.
It is going to be a fun couple of days!

miles' agent could be discussing a new LSU contract.

With the current fan sentiment, it would be a bad idea for LSU to give Miles a new contract.
