Randy Edsell and Tyrone Willingham You have got to be kidding me.
Really? Who gives him another shot after his stellar performance at UW?

Edsell wouldn't be bad. Willingham must just be their token minority candidate, cause that dude fricking sucks.

From Wiki:
career college football record of 76–88–1
On July 18, 2010, at the age of 56, Tyrone Willingham announced he was retired from coaching.

By ties, do you mean he has pictures of the ad with a 13 year old boy? If he's being considered, it has to be those kinds of ties.

I swear I dreamt this yesterday during a nap after the Saints game:

In my dream, I came to the Coaching Changes Board, and I read that Friedgen had resigned, and that Gary Crowton had already been named as his replacement as HC for $1.1 million a year.

I woke up, and started to check this board just in case I was having a Miss Cleo moment of illumination.

Then I thought about the ridiculousness of my "dream scenario" details, and realized I have just been spending too much fricking time on tigerdroppings, and went back to sleep.

How is that even remotely possible.

That guy has to be the worst football coach I've ever witnessed.

Anybody that hires this fraud should be fired on the spot. He's really good at being a horrible game manager, a horrible coach, golfing instead of recruiting, and alienating fanbases, but that's about it.

Schad went on to suggest that Leach could be attractive to the program due to his close relationship with Under Armour, that Willingham could be the guy because he was at California with Kevin Anderson previously, and that Locksley could be targeted because he is a D.C. native.

Maryland will feel compelled to interview and consider a minority candidate.

They're gunning for an NC. Can't you hear the search committee now "Chizk was 5-19 at Iowa State and now he has AU playing for an NC. Locksely is even worse --- 2-20 --- we'll win it all in no time!"

Anyone else think firing Friedgen was the wrong move?

Think about it...we are talking about Maryland.

Friedgen had a record of 74-50; had 8 winning seasons in 10 years; 7 bowls in 10 years; led them to a 8-4 record this year; was named ACC Coach of the Year this year. Those are all impressive facts when you consider they were accomplished at Maryland.

I could see this turning out to be a disaster move for Maryland...akin to Syracuse firing Postlethwaite around 8 years ago after he led them to 15 winning seasons in 16 years. Their program almost died after that move. However, if they manage to replace him with a top tier coach it could work out for the best.
