Golding will most likely win a championship next month, but I still prefer Elko.

Isn't Golding the better recruiter? Then him

Probably Elko because we know he has full control/autonomy on A&M’s defense

That said, I’d be totally fine with either….just not sure if either may be a reality

If it was Elko, he’d be here already.

I'd take Elko without question. He had a solid D at ND and at A&M. Golding has the benefit of elite Bama talent. As far as recruiting, how much of Golding's recruiting is the Bama name?

I wouldn't mind Golding, but Elko would be the better choice.

Probably, but you don’t that for sure. I’m more convinced than ever that no one on this board knows anything for sure.

I'd take elko over golding.

Better technician. Great defensive mind. Has been elite at multiple spots.

Doubt lsu has a chance at elko.
Golding is a pretty damn good hire.

Our recruiting would take a big jump.

Golding was Frank's DC for 2 years at UTSA, until Alabama stole his away. Was a huge loss for Frank as they had that Program on the accend. Defense was Elite while he was there.

This right here.

We have to become an absolute unstoppable force in recruiting.
You build a program off talent, sure. However, you build long-lasting programs off a great staff and lots of depth. This allows recruits to develop into ELITE athletes because they're "allowed to make mistakes and experience growing pains" in a lower-pressure scenario.
Don't get me wrong, you're always gonna have some studs that come in and deserve early playing time but that's rare.
For too long we have been a team with a roster full of talent but lack of a true development program .

Very good point. His recruiting could have a lot to do with just Bama in name.

Would prefer Golding as it seems Elko will be a HC sooner than later. But also, if it was Elko, he would be here by now.

Golding probably more realistic, may be ready to get out on his own. Elko makes too much cash to leave.

Recruit the boot

Between frank, Golding & Brad Davis, not many guys would leave the state

Elko. He’s considered as a favorite to get a good head coaching gig soon. He’s highly respected among his peers. He’s a very good recruiter and you absolutely know what you are getting in terms of scheme and X and O acumen on the field. Let’s be real here- Elko is the reason A&M is as good as they are at the moment, not Jimbo and his offense.

That said, I still think Golding is a strong option. I just think Elko is the better of the two today.

Why would either leave? Not knocking LSU. Why join a rebuild if you're at A&M or Bama?

Golding is from Louisiana. A lot of guys like to come home to coach. Especially for bags of money.

There is a reason coaches don't typically last very long working under Saban. It's not easy.

Golding is also from Hammond, LA.

That's an interesting connection. So Golding is a LA kid who worked with Frank. Even if it's a lateral move, it has to be exhausting working for little Nicky. Plus you can never get out of his shadow for recognition. No matter how successful you are there will always be the "but Saban made you successful" narrative.
