The BOS does have to approve the new contract, which since both sides have agreed to the contract you could say there is no rush because of that. But then you have the argument that the BOS surely approved Coach Oeaux's contract real fast and NO ONE was coming to hire him away from LSU. So to put it bluntly, that excuse doesn't add up because EVERYONE knows how important Aranda is to LSU's defense so you would think LSU would move VERY quickly to approve any contract extension so he is locked in because EVERYONE knows that Herman wants Aranda at Texas.

The real world does work that way! Aranda is getting a contract EXTENSION not a new contract from a different employer. Meaning all they are doing is changing wording in the contract and adding a few new codicils for job title and added responsibilities plus changing terms. So this is relatively speaking a simple contract to review so there is absolutely NO WAY it should take an entire week to review this contract to approve for your client to sign NO WAY.
Some people might not want to hear this, but there is something going on behind the scene's that we don't know about that is holding this signature up and I just don't believe it is the BOS's haven't approved the contract yet. There is just no way that is the case.

The Bos didn't approve O's contract yet. They won't until they meet in January

We all hope he stays but you choose to sell yourself that the delay is no cause for concern. Others choose to be realistic. No reason to not have signed yet unless something up on his end.

Orgeron wasn't under contract as head coach and Aranda is under contract as our DC until 2018 so they are no where near alike.
So you believe Aranda agreed in principle to make him the highest paid coordinator in college...shite it's probably the highest paid in all of football, and you think he has something going on? if he is shady like that do we really want the guy?

Why do you think the ones worried are being realistic...Aranda has given me no reason to not trust him...has he given you reason to think he is a liar?

So do you think his decision is 100% about the money and what's to say Texas wouldnt match. To say he agreed in principle is speculation on your part. You have no idea what he said. Not dissimilar to the Herman situation.

Either way, I would rather have a DC that a ton of teams want than one no one is interested in.
And boy, do I know that feeling.

So the BOS has to approve one but not the other?
The BOS thing is silly. That's a fait accompli ratification. That's not what's holding up a signing.

Because the extension is not finalized. Nobody is calling him a liar. He's being smart and doing his due diligence. Stop letting your emotions get in the way of sound reasoning. I understand you want him to stay, as do I, but he's obviously a smart guy and weighing his options.

I've heard UT will either go with Orlando (assuming no UH HC job) or make a big offer to venables. (Clemson already pays him like $1.5 mil)

Emotions? Y'all are the fricking ines worried he is leaving us based on emotions
Posted on 12/3/16 at 1:31 pm to dsides
Somebody said on this board awhile ago that he has NFL aspirations. We may have to wait and see what he does after some of those jobs open up. I'm sure there are some teams who would be willing to hire him. If he leaves for the NFL, I would have to understand that. I would obviously be incredibly disappointed, but I would understand the move for him. The same thing if he were to leave for a HC job.
If he leaves for Texas as a DC though, that would piss me off.

And you need to learn what being realistic means

None of your bs excuses for him not signing yet are realistic. Him considering other options is realistic. Assuming you are a dumbass is realistic.

If that is the case it is worse, there is NO WAY in hell when you are talking about contracts in the multi-million dollar range and as important as these contracts are that Aranda hasn't signed his contract. If the BOS doesn't meet until January to approve these contracts then I can promise you these contracts are signed prior to approval. I have sold 2 VERY successful businesses in life and I can promise you one thing when you are talking about negotiations and contracts of this size and importance you want the ink to dry as quickly as possible because anything can happen prior to the signing that can change things. ie... a bigger contract from Texas for example.
