You would doubt what?
His current buy out is structured as a percentage of his salary, with certain contingencies. Simply raising his salary would raise the buy out.
If they're negotiating a significantly substantive provision like the buy out, that goes against the press statements that he "has agreed".

no I'm incapable of understanding what relative means. Just curious do you work for a law firm or directly employed by a company?

Corporate. Mainly private equity, hedge funds and venture capital. I do random JV type of deals too.
I don't have any inside knowledge of what's going on with Aranda, and I have no sauces. I certainly hope he stays, I just find the situation odd.

Seems like those contracts would be much more in depth and harder to come to terms with than a coach and employer. Just based on the limited knowledge I've seen with contracts in my company.

SFP don't you think the big negotiating point in these contracts is what the cost of the buyout is? Are you also saying this is not something both parties negotiate over before signing?

I've learned to not be surprised by anything anymore.

I doubt a new contract is being signed. It is probably a 1 or 2 page addendum revising certain provisions of the original contract.

I'm not either but I'm just really confident Aranda isn't leaving. Oh I think he will in a year or 2 but not to. E a DC in college

Orlando is going to be DC unless he gets the UH job.

Have you thought about the pros and cons of being a DC at LSU and Texas?
I think Aranda stays, but your argument does not exactly hold up.
Herman will get at least three years as HC.
Can you honestly say the same with certainty about O?
Again, his talent is definitely better if he stays with LSU. But, if the OC is problematic it will be a huge burden on his end. Combine that with the fact O is not certain after next year, and I can see why he would slow play signing the dotted line at least until the OC issue is settled.

You think that Aranda hasn't heard are fanbase desire to make him head coach in waiting? And how we can't let him get away? If his goal is head coach he would already have a leg up when his boss gets fired

Not to be too snarky, but it does not seem as it if the power brokers at LSU are listening to the fanbase anyway.
And I agree he will stay, but would not be surprised if signs nothing until an OC is in place.

This makes no sense. Even contracts on complicated deals can get executed in days if the parties want it done. We know where LSU stands so this is all on Aranda and it's odd it hasn't been finalized.

might have missed it. Who is it? Why the wait if they don't? Anyone know who it will be yet?
Well Todd Orlando is being considered for the Houston HC job so if Herman wants Orlando to be the DC at Texas they are probably waiting to see if he gets the Houston HC job first.
The problem is until Aranda signs that new contract extension I am still worried about him going to Texas. People can say all they want, but it DOES NOT take an enitre week to review and sign a contract EXTENSION when the codicils that were changed from the original contract are not that much different. I believe Aranda is a "his word is his bond" type of guy. But then again Herman/Armstrong agreed to a contract with LSU and you see how that went.
And one thing I can give personal experience from, the longer this goes without Aranda signing the contract "no matter what the excuse is" the less likely it is that he will sign the contract.
Whether anyone wants to believe this or not, there is something going on behinds the seen as to why Aranda hasn't signed the contract yet. There is a list of a whole host of reasons, but it doesn't take an entire week to review and sign a contract extension unless you have a really shitty attorney that needs help with contractual law, which I highly doubt that is the case.

What is the rush?
What is the hesitation? It's signing a document? He's not signing it because he's not ready. Why

I've heard some say the BOS has to approve the contract/raise etc. sounds plausible to me but apparently most on here thinks everything needs to happen instantly...I think that it's naive to think the real world works that way.
