He’s got to be ready to come back to the SEC and topple Saban...

Jesus that'd be scary. Kiffin at OC, Aranda at DC, O recruiting the Brent Sha'fahs of the South, I'd take it in a heartbeat. One heartbeat...

He wants to be a HC.

He doesn’t want to be an OC

We most likely offered him at least 1.7 Million and he took 750k to coach FAU.

Move on

Kiffin is coming up to a crossroads... stay a lower level head coach or start your path back to a big job. I bet he’d love to beat Saban... come on, O !! Pick up the phone... he’ll, SE is ready to go back to being a TE coach...

Kidding can’t legitimately look at what he did this season and think that another year at FAU is a quicker route to a big name HC position than returning as a big name OC for a year or two would be.

The exposure a big program will get him especially if he beats Saban is unmatched. Certainly, O can ask him for 1-2 years...

Kiffin will never bring himself to work under Orgeron.

That’s before he had a losing season and see's what it will actually take to land a bigger gig. He’d have to do what UCF is doing to make that happen or come to LSU with the talent we have on offense for more money for a couple seasons and would have much better options. Beginning of the season I would’ve laughed at this but honestly it makes sense if he wants to be a HC at a P5 school again

NO ONE, and I mean NO ONE, has a bigger axe to grind against Saban than Kiffin. And this team needs some attitude and moxy. Our guys don't even look like they're having fun honestly. They appear to just be going through the boring motions of boring playcalling.
I really think that's part of why they aren't executing that well: they're bored and uninspired.

We need some serious attitude back.

Exactly. He may be a front runner for onother head coaching gig that we don’t know about yet, but if not.... ESPN will promote him when he turns the Tiger O around and he and Ed have a great year... his name will be back in the mainstream...

Kiffin knows Saban. Knows how to scheme against him and beat him. At LSU, he’ll have the players to do it. Kiffin’s name is getting lost at FAU. If he has ambition to get a big job again one day. He and Ed O, need each other to do it... hell, O already tried but things are much different now...

This is a sad thread. When did you guys get an opening at OC?

GTFO... it’s clear to us that SE time is up. It was a last minute experiment after Canada left... it’s over. It didn’t work. Time for fresh blood and Kiffin is one of Os boys and he’s floundering in South Florida... perfect match at the right time...

The problem with that narrative is that Canada was on his way out for weeks before the season ended. Ed had plenty of time to search for an OC. Steve wasn’t a patch job. It was his pick.

Yep. After Kiffin said no because he was offered the FAU gig. Hell O said in a PC he almost had Kiffin before.. regardless of then... things are a bit different for both coaches now. Would be the only way to challenge Bama in the West over the next couple of years IMO... If it ain’t Kiffin, then LSU needs another prolific OC to challenge for the west...

is this your first go at the CC board? Lol

Also, if it's such an inconsequential thread and topic, why waste your time posting in it?

Has a college HC ever resigned to become a college OC before?

My theory is Lane was first choice but he wanted to HC for less. “Had” to grab a big name to sell to the fan base so was kinda forced in to Canada which didn’t work out.

Freeze was the next choice but O was told by some combo of Alleva/F_King/Stankey that Freeze was too hot of a potato for another year. Steve, who publicly didn’t want the job, was asked to step up for his alma mater as a 1 year placeholder to keep the seat warm for Freeze. Steve had success as interim so a short term fix seemed doable and, for the most part, he comported himself favorably. Despite the gripes, the W/L record exceeded most realistic preseason expectations.

Still, considering the weak teams that 2 of our losses fell to, its hard not to be disappointed even though most would have jumped on a promise of 9 wins after spring practice ended

I don’t like to get my hopes up but I can kind of see your theory as being very plausible

Especially considering freeze can pick a bunch of his staff and he would be walking into a Senior QB and a QB waiting in the wings

It really makes sense
