Was there a melt for for him leaving? I for one was happy he left for Auburn. It worked out for both schools in the end.

There was not. Just a dumb Auburn fan trying to troll. The only melt that year was that Les wasn't leaving with him.

absolutely. i guess i'm assuming O has a feel on whether or not he's being played? or am i being naive? shouldn't he have learned this lesson by now, especially after freeman?
Well, there is a small difference between Freeman having the choice of ND fresh off a playoff appearance and being closer to home and Arnett choosing between State and LSU.
O may just move on, but if we make a legit offer and Arnett chooses to stay at State, then we should melt.

Y'all all do realize that Freeman had just signed and there was a buyout on that deal as well...
LSU's offer was financially stronger than NDs. It came down to geography. This guy does not have 6 kids. He currently lives in the neighboring state. He already came to the SEC. He wants to compete and show off his defensive acumen. He has a "chest" as y'all say.
This is a great fit!

arnett brought his wife with him. hopefully we aren't getting leveraged for the 2nd time in a week.

247 hit the "buyout is big, don't get your hopes up" button so all the tiddies crowd is running here to repeat that. Same as Embody has a Cinci source that says Freeman isn't leaving there to begin with.

I’ll throw in $10 if it helps

Yea, everyone knows about the buyout except Orgeron and Woodward.
Won’t they be surprised?

Haha well I don't personally think so... This guy brought his wife for the same reason Freeman brought his wife. He wants to come here.
Freeman picked LSU. His family picked ND. Cool.
Arnett has far different circumstances, so I think we can chill on comparing those two. Haha

Guy picked the more stable position for a little less money at a title contender that was significantly close to home. LSU isn’t the most attractive job for multiple reasons. Just accept it.

Different jobs are more attractive to different people for different reasons. Just accept it.

We pay the buyout and just add a bigger buyout to his new contract. LSU isnt broke baws. Just 4 years ago they had the $30 million to fire Les and hire Jimbo but didn't.

Correct. The money is always there.

Arnett’s new contract doesn’t go into effect until Feb 1.
His buyout is $300k for a non-SEC school, and $450k for an SEC school.
Perhaps he just bombed his interview or thought Coach O was a dipshit. I’ll side with the former.
