I know in past years, every time there was an opening at a major college, Saban's name was mentioned and ultimately, Saban would get a raise and stay at Bama. Have other teams simply given up on trying to lure him away?

Apparently so. Texas was the last chance to dislodge him.

No one else that I'm aware of has actually made any humiliating attempts to go after him since he started at Bama.

waste of time to pursue him. He is too expensive for most schools, and he is getting up there in age. His best chance to jump ship and try another school was when Texas hired Charlie Strong (ha). I would be floored if Bama isn't his last stop.

I guess most of the other mentions were rumors.

When Texas with their own TV network and an athletic department with deeper pockets than any other school in the country couldn't lure him away, it makes it pretty clear he intends to coach at Bama until he retires.

That shouldn't stop Saban's agent from shopping him around to programs like Texas A&M or Florida for a raise and him a bonus.

Yes it should, if we all on a message board know Saban isn’t seriously considering another job, then surely other programs know this too, and Bama ain’t gonna take that bait.

He's 's paid over $11 million a year.

For comparions sake, Urban makes a little over $6 million and is the 3rd highest paid HC in CFB.

In other word, Saban makes nearly double of what the 3rd highest paid coach makes. He's not going anywhere.

I think university AD's have finally caught on that Saban is never leaving Alabama until he retires. He will be 67 next October.
Sexton used the threat of his leaving to leverage big pay raises for him over the years. The last credible rumor about his leaving was probably for the Texas job, and I'm still not convinced THAT wasn't all smoke and mirrors aimed at getting him more money from Alabama.

What could another college reasonably offer that he cannot currently get at Bama?

Saban is old and pretty much over the hill. Soon the Bobby Bowden effect will kick in and he wont be pulling top 5 class anymore. It happens to the best of them.

Its saban. He probably hates the distraction of all that more than he'd enjoy the raise he'd get out of it.

You would think, but it’s clearly a non-issue for him

His process is all about recruiting. He is getting up there in age; therefore, getting late to start the process.

He vacations at a Lake House in Georgia. He's a quick drive away from there living in Alabama, whereas Texas, he'd have to fly. Not that he couldn't afford his own plane at this point

I actually also think, knowing how Saban is, he would be the one coach to tell his agent not to play those games because it's a distraction for his program and recruiting and whatnot.
