He's been UCLA's DC for 3 years now. And he has produced an average defense in a weak conference. We already have an average defense, but we're in a superior conference. I'll pass on Mr. Walker

That's fine. But, there is a reason he is a hot name in the coaching ranks.

Bama's coach used to coach in the Mid-America conference. Paul Johnson (Georgia Tech's coach) used to coach in the Patriot league. Crowton coached in C-USA. What is your point?

All I know is that he is thought very highly of in the coaching fraternity.

He doesn't want to leave the West Coast, but he does want to be a head coach, and thus he has to realize that being the DC of LSU > being the DC of UCLA x 10. He has to look at Muschamp, Pelini, and Fisher and know that the DC gig here is a proven conduit to a bigger job, provided he is successful.
His defenses are hit or miss, and he has gotten an ungodly amount of mileage over that upset of USC a few years ago. But he is like a man going into a gun fight with a kazoo with the talent UCLA had under Karl Dorrell.
I have heard Bruin fans bitch about him though, but anything is an upgrade over what we have now

Which ever posters keep throwing the stats out there need to look at the offensive stats as well. UCLA's offense is god awful, I would imagine the defense gets tired from having to be out there for so long and knowing that the only way they will score is by either at defensive TD or them setting up good field position.
