Hasn't he interviewed with them before? Or am I imagining that?

Not sure if he interviewed or not, but he was mentioned a bit last time it was open.

Riddick has a good bit of FO experience and is a pretty smart guy.

They have to check a box. Really an insult to Riddick

He's actually interviewing for two GM jobs this offseason.

Could be Rooney Rule shenanigans but he is an experienced guy.

True, but is there a particular reason he's been out of the league for so long? I'm not saying it's necessarily a problem, just curious.

Seems like he would've been snapped up by another front office instead of doing MNF now.

Riddick has been a hot name in FO circles for a few years now. I imagine someone will hire him this cycle. I think he was pretty close last year

These guys are starting to realize that being in the media is a quicker fast track to big time jobs than cutting your teeth in a scouting department for decades before working up to the top.

Not sure how directly related it is but I believe his kids got into college a couple years ago and he’s ramped up his pursuit of these jobs the last 2-3 years

My guess is he got out of scouting to spend more time at home while his kids went through middle school/HS and now that they are out the house he’s looking to get back to a FO

Working in media is a shitload easier if you can make it to the top like ESPN.

Also much easier to leverage either side for a bigger pay day

And you don’t really have a tangible track record you have to worry about when you are a media analyst. Just make Twitter videos and tv segments that show you are tuned in, a great communicator, and can break down players expertly, and your stock will only go up

I think this was the path that Orlosky was going for and then he just decided he loved the spotlight of media so much and decided to go down the hot take path instead

He's also on the Falcons' radar. No interview set right now, though.
