Good stuff. Does anyone think we would hear Lane say that about Saban?

From what I have seen and believe, we need to make the decision and pull the trigger on Canada or Helfrich in the next couple of days. Both would be good hires.

Wasn't he quoted at the Briles Award ceremony something along the lines of "Its amazing what you can do when your Boss lets you do."

Most people don't know this, but that line was actually a shot at current Arkansas HC, Brett Bielema. Brett was Matt Canada's boss at Wisconsin in 2012 and apparently didn't allow Matt control of his offense. There was a power struggle over the reigns.

quote:

Prior to the Big Ten Conference title game against Nebraska, Canada went in to talk to former UW coach Bret Bielema and at long last put his foot down. Sink or swim, it was time for Canada to do things his way.

Numerous UW sources said Canada's decision to stand up to Bielema was a significant factor in the offensive outburst that followed. The Badgers amassed 640 yards, including 539 on the ground, in the 70-31 victory over Nebraska on Dec. 1, sending UW to the Rose Bowl where it will face Stanford on Tuesday.

The brilliant game plan stands as a crowning achievement in Canada's 21 seasons in college coaching, but it wouldn't have happened if he had not fought for the things he believed in.

That's a lot better than what we've been doing!

I prefer to look at his entire career, and I'm not inspired. I could be proven wrong, but I'm terribly skeptical.

What happened at Wisconsin? Why was he there for only one year?

Bert tried to eat him at Thanksgiving, so he bolted. Lost his first born though...

I think we need to get it out of our heads that our next OC hire is going to turn LSU into air raid. Just don't see it happening.

It's not going to happen. Alleva specifically said he didn’t want to re invent the wheel here. People want to see that flash, but it's more about efficiency, TOP, and scoring with the LSU offense. Canada does run a type of spread, but it isn't an air raid spread.

If O knows what's good for him, he'll hire whoever Dave aranda thinks is the best guy for the job.

Aranda is the associate head coach now, so I'm sure he's given O his two cents on the job. Hopefully Aranda wants Canada or Helfrich

What kind of QB did they have? Did the coach make the QB, or did the QB make the coach. We need a teacher for QB coach/coordinator. I want a man who knows what he wants to run, AND can teach his player how to execute. The right coach will find a QB on the roster and teach him to be good.

Those stats look great; am I missing something? I'm sure one of the negative nellies can point out what I'm missing.

Chicken:

Pitts passing stats are missing leading. They run 10+ shovel passes per game.

The balance of his offense is what stands out to me. Just really want someone that's not predictable and good at developing QBs.

So they exploit a team's weakness and score points. I am down for them doing the annexation of Puerto Rico if it scores points and helps us win games. I don't want LSU to be Oregon of the past but want to be a balanced team all the way around with running and passing.

Do you think he's a better hire than STerlin Gilbert?

Not better but I think he is a less risky hire than Gilbert.
Some question as to how much Gilbert was involved in Tulsa offense as co-OC. And one year at Texas in the Big XII isn't enough to go by IMO.

Did Canada even coach Lynch at Northern Illinois when he was really playing much? Seems he left after Lynch's sophomore year. Lynch broke out in 2012 & 2013. This is after Canada left to NC State.

I just haven't seen Canada prove consistency here with players he's developed and coached. Joel Stave was his QB at his one year in Wisconsin.

As a playcaller he seems to be solid, but LSU clearly needs a legitimate and proven QB coach too in my opinion.

I think that is the key for Canada's success.

Georgia Tech – 47th (37 points)

Va Tech – 29th (37 points)

Clemson – 12th (43 points)

Duke – 67th (56 points)
