reading between the lines, I think Lane fully expected Ole Miss to say "hit the road" today, hence the optimism from the LSU side...then Ole Miss told him to stay another week, which was not expected...so now there is a chance he has a change of heart?

Could be. Or they could've all agreed that he will at least finish the season with his players but told them he was leaving.

The change of heart thing could be real unless he already signed the contract with lsu. Sounds like he is definitely leaving tho. Let's just hope it's to lsu.

“While we discuss the next steps”. Feels like Lane said he’s coaching one more game and out

They’re trying to hurt us by dragging this out. And then Lane, by prearrangement signs the extension.

they're hurting their own program way more than LSU if that theory had any merit. LSU can pivot just fine by waiting another week. The end of the regular season is when most coaching hires are made regardless.

No one is talking about their football team right now in the middle of their best season in over half a century. Their fan base is pissed. That's not worth a troll to a rival.

Nope, welcome to the SEXTON experience. Dude is always looking for more negotiation leverage.

Emotional thinking.
Emotional thinking is getting so caught up up in wanting a coach that isn’t all that successful with multiple flame outs like lane kiffin

Sexton isn’t going to have his client sign anything or sign anything committable on his behalf, because to do so explicitly violates Lane’s contract with Ole Miss.

Some of y’all

I mean if Ole Miss didn’t give him an ultimatum he’s not going to decide or leave earlier than he has to.

They probably agreed he will finish the regular season then hand it over for the playoffs.

Or he could've bullahitted them and said he doesn't know yet so let's just finish the season.

I'm not getting excited until ole miss announces he is leaving.

What if it's all done and they are just letting him coach the last regular season game?

The news was imminent after all.
